Product Description:
'Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through the tiny community of Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.
But not everybody is feeling the joy. Little Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. No, he's not on his deathbed; no, his dog hasn't run away from home. But Josh is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old has only one prayer: Please, Santa, come back from the dead.
But hold on! There's an angel waiting in the wings. (Wings, get it?) It's none other than the Archangel Raziel come to Earth seeking a small child with a wish that needs granting. Unfortunately, our angel's not sporting the brightest halo in the bunch, and before you can say "Kris Kringle," he's botched his sacred mission and sent the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos, culminating in the most hilarious and horrifying holiday party the town has ever seen.
Move over, Charles Dickens -- it's Christopher Moore time.

this is a good book and i love how text to speech is enabled. i hate how authors disable it because they think we steal it. i only buy books with text to speach because i read along and understand the book more. this book makes me laugh a lot. i laugh at least once per chapter. if you want a book more like a movie thats a co medy buy this. i wish it showed more of the angels point of veiw but still a great book

There's little I can add to the 150-plus previous reviews here on Amazon. If you like dark, offbeat humor (and I mean REALLY offbeat!) then "The Stupidest Angel" will be just your cup of tea. On the other hand, if you are offended by vulgar language, descriptions of bizarre sexual behavior, and brain-eating zombies, then you probably ought to choose another book.

Alot is going on this story.Ya Know the usual stuff. Talking Fruit bats ,a sexually repressed 80 year old barmaid who is addicted to plastic surgery, and a zombie santa who wants to eat everybody and then go christmas shopping at Ikea.
It all started with Josh barker seeing Santa getting murdered. He prays that God will BRING santa back to life.Unfortunately God is superbusy and sends Raziel, the slacker angel. All he cares about is snickers bars and instead Awakes a cemetary of zombies on the town Christmas Eve Party.
The only that can save them is Theo the pot smoking cop. Unfortunately he is not up to the task, the wife and him are going through a rough patch. The wife went off her antipyschotics again and thinks she is a superhero, she used to play on Tv, 20 years ago.
This is the weirdest book I ever read.It had alot of crude humor and swearing, but it made me laugh laugh laugh.
If this ever gets made in the movie here is my dream cast
Tucker case - simon baker
Molly michon Michelle Phieffer
Mavis sands - cloris leachman
theo crowe - trace adkins

When the holiday season eccentricities of Pine Cove, CA come to bear, the sleepy little town - a Christmas tourist destination - provides a hilarious location for the antithesis of yuletide cheer. Think Bad Santa and The Nightmare Before Christmas, more so than It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. With a warning at the beginning, Christopher Moore gives his readers ample time to back out before delving into the wackiest, dysfunctional, most creative Christmas story of all time.
Young Josh doesn't know what to make of what he sees. Santa slumped over a shovel. With a Christmas wish for everything to be as it was before, he unknowingly allows the Archangel Raziel, a borderline retarded screw-up who missed his assignment at the original manger by several years, to spring into action. Oops!
In no time at all, a pot-smoking town constable and his schizophrenic wife - a former B-movie star who has a penchant for wielding a broadsword - get mixed up with a surly, chain-smoking bartender, a helicopter pilot searching for marijuana fields, a Rayban-wearing fruit-bat named Roberto, and a zombie Santa, as a battle for survival and a quest for relationship redemptions rule the holiday season. On top of it all Moore somehow manages - with his clear, concise, entertaining writing style - to weave in a heartwarming tale abound with rich details of family, love, marriage and divorce, and the keenly direct insight of a dog named Skinner.
Do yourself a favor and spend your next Christmas Eve with this book in hand, away from the television. Laugh out loud at Moore's sense of humor, at a town and characters resurrected in more ways than one, and at one of the funniest albeit completely bizarre books you'll ever read. At the very least, you won't get your tongue stuck to a frozen pole, and you definitely won't shoot your eye out.

First of all, if you are picking up a Christopher Moore book, you must know that all sense of normality must be suspended. With that said, this book is a hoot.
Even though this book takes place during the Christmas season I won't go so far as to call it a Christmas story Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. Being sure that he has just seen Santa take a shovel to the head, the seven year old has only one payer. "Please, Santa, come back from the dead".
Archangel Raziel, who admits that he is attracted to lunatics, comes to Earth and finds his fair share in this small seaside community. He botches his mission and sends the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos, culminating in the most hilarious, and horrifying, holiday party the town has ever seen.
Thee are quite a few laugh out loud parts and if you are looking for a non-traditional Christmas story, check out this book. And if you are looking for a "you've got to be kidding" type of book, check out any book from this author. You won't be disappointed.
