Jodi does it again. I thought this was an excellent novel and would definitely read this book. Very well written. Author gave a great sense of emotion. However I thought the end of the book could have been more clarified as to who was sexually abusing Emily. So there was definitely a few plot gaps but overall great.

This book is wonderful. I felt the character's hurt and dreams slip away. The author captured their soul in these pages. She showed how loving someone can be so scary..esp if the love is not the same. The author showed feelings in these characters that I feel no other author could find. From title page to conclusion, Jodi Picoult had my feelings and my mind. Great Book.

This was the first book I read by the author, and the start of a long love affair with the books of Jodi Picoult. I read all the time, and rarely do I find a book that moves me as much as this one. Although the subject matter is quite sensitive, and I did not agree with all of the book's premises, I could not put it down. I cried, I laughed, and I lost sleep. I've gone on to read everything else Ms. Picoult has written, but this book remains a particular favorite. She is an author that I find extremely compelling, even controversial, as her subject matter touches on highly polarized issues. Her character development is first-rate, and I cannot recommend this book enough. You won't be sorry when choosing this book.

This book really touched my heart. I loved the idea how the author made the story about two kids who grew up together and from the day Emily was born they were placed in the same bassinet up to when they turned teenagers they were inseparable. These two kids who are practically one person combined together has an outstanding relationship and bond with each other. They couldn't possibly live without the other. Towards the end while Chris was in the witness stand and he explained in detail how he feels toward Em, I thought the words that the author used about "being home" was heartfelting. While and after reading this book, I couldn't stop thinking about it and I couldn't help being pulled into the story. This book is a tear-jerker and enchanting.

I have never read Jodi Picoult before this, though I'd been meaning to check her out ~ and I have to say, this book was PURE INDULGENCE. An engaging and dramatic storyline with melodramatic, 2-dimensional stock characters, but it's about teenagers and the suburbs, which screams "summer read" to me, and I gobbled it right up like an ice cream sundae on a hot day. A little sickly sweet, and not exactly good for me, but a real treat. Like I said, pure indulgence.
