I like each of these authors in their stand alone novels, but they both seem to do better with each other. This is only the 2nd together(that I'm aware of) and they have each been better.

this story goes all the way from Huston, Texas to Cairo, Egypt.
Allie has Globiod Cell Leukodystrophy & her sister Rachel is trying to find a cure. then she hears from John Tavak who thinks he has found a cure. But a evil foe is trying to posses the information. So Rachel & John join forces to find the cure before the foe does.

I have always enjoyed Iris Johansen's novels and now that she has partnered with her son (I noticed many other authors doing this), I wanted to check them out. "Storm Cycle" is okay, but not exceptional. There is the exotic Egyptian location and ancient lore, a strong protagonist in Rachel Kirby (whose goal is to find a cure for her dying sister), an adventurous male lead, John Tavek. Tavek tells Rachel he can help her find a cure for her sister, but being the conniving character he is; he has other plans. A good premise and a lot of action, but the characters were not likable, for many reasons - one that comes to mind, although Rachel is strong and intelligent, she is also rude. I enjoyed their first joint venture together and will check out their next novel, but this one is not a keeper.

STORMCYCLE is a fast-paced read with action and adventure throughout the book; the plot is undeniably captivating and suspenseful. Although some of the scenarios are totally unfeasible, they are rather amusing especially if you look upon the surface and extend a little belief. As other reviewers mentioned, the dialogue and character interactions need further development and fine-tuning. Since this has been a common assessment in prior publications, the reader can expect more complexity and creativity from Johansen's storylines. Accordingly, STORMCYCLE'S overriding strengths are the unique events and the unbelievable escapades the characters experience. If you read the book for its intended purpose, to take the reader along for a non-stop exciting and thrilling ride, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Worthy to weather the storm!

The addition of son to the team has really improved the books in my estimation ~ more intrigue, less romance. They may soon be true thriller writers, which is what I want.
