Product Description:
The New York Times bestselling sensation that's "Steel Magnolias set in Manhattan" (USA Today)-now in paperback.

Juggling the demands of her yarn shop and single-handedly raising a teenage daughter has made Georgia Walker grateful for her Friday Night Knitting Club. Her friends are happy to escape their lives too, even for just a few hours. But when Georgia's ex suddenly reappears, demanding a role in their daughter's life, her whole world is shattered.

Luckily, Georgia's friends are there, sharing their own tales of intimacy, heartbreak, and miracle making. And when the unthinkable happens, these women will discover that what they've created isn't just a knitting club: it's a sisterhood.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - enjoyable read
A light read, a step above chick lit. A story of a disparate group of women bonding over a common joy of knitting, who come to rely on each other far more than they suspected. The story doesn't veer too far from the plot direction taken early in the book, but there is a kicker you may not see coming. Good enough to want to read the sequel.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Are you kidding me!?!?
I really wanted to like this book, but it was just awful! The characters were flat and unlikable, the dialog was just painful, the plot was weak. I am not even sure what the author was trying to convey with this book. What was the point???? I was having trouble finding any reason I should care about any of these characters. Up until the last 50 pages or so I might have given this two or three stars (the book had me just interested enough to be curious what was going to happen but not enough that I really cared all that much what it was that happened), but the ending really pushed it over the edge for me! You have got to be kidding me right? *spoiler* The main character gets cancer and dies! All within a few short chapters! What? Why? This should have been a nice fluffy easy read, but I think the author was really trying to get into the readers heart in a compelling way and the book just failed on both attempts! What a waist!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - don't bother
I didn't connect with the characters or care what happened to them. I was glad to finally finish the book.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not Impressed.
** spoiler alert ** Georgia Walker has curly hair. No really. She does. And if you missed that description the first time, don't worry because it is repeated ad nauseum throughout the entire book.

This book was "okay." I enjoyed the reading even though it seemed hollow. The thing that bothered me the most, however, was the character of Lucie. So desperate to conceive a child before it was too late, she lied to her partner (a random, dating site find) that she was on birth control. And then never spoke to him again (pretty much blew him off) and never suffered any type of consequences for her actions.

I'm not sure why I was supposed to care that Georgia died at the end of the book. I'm not sure what made that significant or why she had to die. I guess life is unfair? I don't know. The book would have been the same for me if she had lived happily ever after. That part of the story seemed rushed and spur of the moment. Was it supposed to be some big twist? Is there some knitting reference or metaphor that I just don't get?

Some things that really bothered me ... I never could figure out how old Anita was. In the beginning of the book it said something along the lines that she had been knitting for 75 years or some crazy timeframe that had me doing complex math in my head. Last, I find it convienent how Marty ended up owning the building where Georgia's shop and apartment were. How nice to not have to pay rent, how realistic. Same thing with Anita being well off and "finding" Georgia in the park and being able to loan Georgia money and how the "knitting club" girls were just happy to work in the shop for free or little for nothing, even KC who had clearly been out of work for sometime. These little things really bothered me and are some of the main reasons I gave this book two stars.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Renewed my spirit and interest in reading novels
One of my best friends recommended this book for me to read on a recent vacation. I loved it. It was the perfect relaxing read, and left me wanting to know more about the characters. That's when I learned there were follow-on books...woo hoo! This book has inspired me to read more novels and to take my first knitting class. Pick it up when you want to escape and read a heartwarming story.
