Editorial Review:

Product Description:
"With the sure touch of a master" (Crescent Blues), Charlaine Harris delivers "the sort of vampire thrills that make Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake novels so popular" (Locus). In Sookie Stackhouse-a Southern cocktail waitress with a supernatural gift-Harris has a created a heroine like few others, and a series that puts the bite back in vampire fiction. Now the hit series launches into hardcover for Sookie's biggest twist-filled adventure yet.

Amazon.com Review:
From Emma Bull's War for the Oaks to Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series, from The X-Files to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, creators are mixing old European myths and legends with modern American pop culture. Incorporating influences ranging from blaxploitation movies and erotic novels to tabloid staples like UFOs and Elvis, authors and directors are creating a new mythology for the strip-mall, tract-house, cell-phone America of the new millennium.

One of the best-known and best writers of the new American mythology is Charlaine Harris. Dead to the World is the fourth novel in her Anthony Award-winning Southern Vampire series. It continues the story of psychic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who has fallen out with her undead lover, Bill. Bill has no sooner departed for Peru, than Sookie finds the head vampire, Eric, running naked and terrified through the rural night. She helps Eric, and discovers his memory has been destroyed by a coven of unscrupulous, astonishingly powerful witches, newly arrived in her small Louisiana town, and offering a huge reward for Eric. Sookie tries to hide Eric, but her brother sees him--and immediately disappears. And Sookie finds herself caught in a war among witches, vampires, and werewolves. --Cynthia Ward

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - So Sexy
This book is very intense and near too explicit to not be considered a romance novel. Those are the reasons that I loved it because unlike a romance novel, it went into the psychological aspects of the Eric/Sookie relationship. Pay attention when you read it, though. There are many questions answered later in the series that are posed in this book, which is my personal favorite, and a key to understanding the Eric/Sookie relationship. Too bad about Bill, but I think Charlaine knows what she's doing.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Favorite Book of the Series
This book is my favorite on in the series by far. I am a major Eric fan, and to get to see him in a different light was great. I also definitely like this version of Vampire Bill instead of the the one from the first few books. He is totally not the saint he made himself to be.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - very good!
Charline keep us thrilled with the fourth novel of Sookie. In this book Sookie finds herself in a new adventure when she got to take care of handsome area 5 sheriff Eric from some wild witches. If this is not enough she will also struggle to find out where Jason is!

Lot of mystery, romance, action, all you want in a novel.

I rate it 4 stars because on the first few chapters it seems a little slow, compared to the last 3 books, but as you continue reading it all got up until you cant stop reading.

In this book you see a different Eric that is soo much more human and kind of romatic that you will love!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of My favorites in the series
This is one of my favorite books in the sookie stackhouse series. I really enjoyed the eric/sookie interaction. I also loved that bill is gone for most of the book, cause without him being gone he would be over at sookie's all the time making sure eric was behaving.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Sookie does it again
I liked this installment in the Sookie series, but did not love it. I felt a little bored in spots, but when you know who pops back in and things heat up with a certain vamp my interest increased. In general I love this series and Sookie, so four out of five is my take on this. I look forward to the next one though!
