Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has her hands full dealing with every sort of undead and paranormal creature imaginable. And after being betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Sookie must not only deal with a new man in her life-the shapeshifter Quinn-but also contend with the long-planned vampire summit.

The summit is a tense situation. The vampire queen of Louisiana is in a precarious position, her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans. And there are some vamps who would like to finish what nature started. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she'll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Can't put these books down!
I liked the True Blood series so I found the books online and ordered a few. I found that I was fascinated by the characters and story lines, even more than the series. I can't stop reading. It is such an interesting way to think about the world, and it makes you want to jump into the book. I think real life seems a little dull at the moment.

I've now bought all the rest of the Stackhouse books and some of Harris' other books which I'll save for when I am mourning the end of the Stackhouse novels. I just bought the Stackhouse books in Spanish, too, so I can brush up on my Spanish. I thought that would be fun after I read the English version through a second time.

I read all the time and I've never enjoyed a book more. I hope Harris will write a few more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Easily my favorite in the series...
Just when it seemed the Sookie series was getting formulaic and as though the heroine was bent on making up for lost time by trying the supe flavor of the month, Harris surprises with this book. At the top of her game, Harris manages to create a complex story with a genuine mystery element, draw in supernatural species from another dimension and truly ancient vampires all while furthering the complex interaction between some of her most loved secondary characters. Most of all she drives the evolution of her heroine into high gear. This book gives us a Sookie who has finally come into her own and who is becoming less dependent on being rescued by all the supe men that seem to find her almost preternaturally irresistible. She's finally got a shot at not just being valued for her skills but maybe even enjoying herself with them. An exciting read for Sookie fans.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not my favorite Sookie story, but enjoyable ...
I will read all of the Sookie stories because I love the characters and the supernatural events. This wasn't my favorite book. Things I liked:
+ Increasing closeness between Sookie and Quinn (but of course events keep them apart)
+ WOW - the Sookie/Eric relationship is getting even more intense; I love the 'twist' that brings them even closer and can't wait to see how Sookie handles that in the next book
+ Cool for Sookie that she could spend time with another telepath
+ Events at the Summit were interesting - wedding, trial, ball

Things I didn't like:
- While I enjoy the variety of characters that Harris has woven into the stories, I was disappointed that she is now bringing in beings from "another dimension."
- Events were a bit confusing in places; the writing was not as clear as I am used to with Harris (in particular, events near the end lost me)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it, but.....
I am a big Sookie Stackhouse series fan and I belive that Harris is a great writer with a even greater imagination. I have no complaints with the series yet, but i will say i miss the romance the first few books had. I felt that the further I read into the series the less romance each book had and inplace more action. I do still the love the action which this time had me on edge of my seat but i still long for the romance that was there with Sookie and Bill. Or the love Eric shared when he was under the care of Sookie.Maybe im just a hopeless romantic of a vampire fan. But whats up with sookie's love interest Quinn (who by the way seem like a sweet sexy guy) who she never gets to hardly see in the book and when she does its like they are friends or they dont really care about one another. Who else really wants Sookie to get back with Eric? But thats not to say that I dont love this book. its great and nothing will stop me from buying the next book until the series is over. oh god i hope that will be never!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not my favorite of the series
I could not help thinking as I read this book that the author must have had someone else write this for her. The writing feels so different from the rest of the series. It was a struggle to get through it. It seems to have lost the Sookie character along with the wit and charm of the previous books. I mistakenly read the next book in the series "From Dead to Worse" out of sequence, and that book was more like the earlier ones. This one was either just a quickly written clunker, or Ms. Harris had some help. That being said, I have enjoyed reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels and would recommend them.
