Product Description: The story of a young heiress's initiation into the dark society of the Chicagoland Vampires continues...
Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they're enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves-mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle-the citizens will start sharpening their stakes.
So now it's up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn't want peace between them-someone with an ancient grudge...

A wonderful sequal to Some girl Bites. In a city where vampires live among humans in public there still not everything about the vampire life stype that the paparazzi know about. One such thing are rave parties that sometimes get out of hand and leave a person left fed dry. That only part of Meritt's new problems as Sentinal of Ethan's house. With a family that Meritt once called friends getting mysterious and threatening letters from a vampire that claims to be from Ethan's house its up to Meritt to reunite with her high class human family snobs to get to the bottom of things. If the threat is coming from another house out to get them or all vampires or a threat from a traitor within. What more, Meritt find herself in a love triangle with her master Ethan and her current vampire boyfriend who can see who she would rather be in. Also her former room mate before moving to the vampire house find herself force to go to a special training for her magical abiltiies.

Chloe Neill is a refreshing addition to the urban fantasy genre. Her writing style is edgy and accessible, and her characters are unpredicable - yet familiar. Although you do not need to read the first of the Chicagoland Vampires series (Some Girls Bite) in order to enjoy FNB, pick up the pair and enjoy the exciting ride.

Oh my gosh, if you love urban fantasy and if you aren't reading Chloe Neill, you should be! Friday Night Bites is the second installment of the Chicagoland Vampire series.
In a very short amount of time, Merit's life has taken a very different path than what she had intended. She went from a graduate student to vampire and Sentinel of Cadogan House. She now has to adjust to moving into Cadogan House and leaving her roommate Mallory who is going through some changes of her own. She is sorta dating the new Master of Navarre House on the orders of Ethan. Ethan, the Master of the House and Merit's boss has mixed feelings for her as does she for him. When she moves into her new room, she also is given the assignment to investigate raves; mass feeding parties where vampires gorge themselves on humans. This is not the kind of image that vampires want to portray. The problem is that the press is very interested in anything that vampires do. If it gets leaked to the press about the raves, vampires would suffer in the public opinion and that could have long reaching consequences. They receive a tip that an old friend of Merit's from her childhood is investigating the raves, ready to air the vampires' dirty laundry. So Ethan orders Merit to reach out to her parents and reclaim her place in high society in order to glean information. Too bad that Merit would rather take a walk at sunrise then have anything to do with that world, especially her parents. It quickly becomes clear that someone is trying to stir up trouble for the vampires. Can Merit discover what is going on before things get completely out of hand?
I thought Some Girls Bite was great but Friday Night Bites is FANTASTIC! I could hardly put it down. Merit is doing the best she can to adjust to this new "life". But she feels like she is split in two. As she investigates, her control over the two parts of her self becomes tenuous. Seeing her parents, entering the world of high society that held little appeal when she was alive and even less now, forces Merit to spend more time with Ethan. I really enjoy how Ms. Neill handles their relationship. I find it refreshing that although they are attracted to one another, they aren't happy about it at all. Her tenuous relationship with Morgan the Master of Navarre adds another dimension to her feelings for Ethan and for her new life. I am firmly on Team Jeff in the area of Merit's love life. There is so much going on between Merit and everyone in her life. You really feel how overwhelmed Merit is. Ms. Neill juggles a lot of plot threads and never drops a single one. Ms. Neill has created the perfect vampire series and I am seriously, hopelessly addicted! I can't wait for the next book, Twice Bitten, which is hitting stores in July of 2010 as well as her YA book Firespell coming in January 2010.

This is the second book in the "Chicagoland Vampires Novel Series". The second book begins ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago; they're enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves-mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle-the citizens will start sharpening their stakes. I liked this book better than the first one. But for me, that usually is the case. It takes me a book or two to warm up to the series. In this book, it seems Merit has gotten use to the fact that she is a vamp and moves into the Cadogan House and in with Ethan. The love triangle is more pronounced in this book, which I liked. We saw a little more romance with Morgan and Ethan. Hopefully in the next book she will choose one of the vamps or maybe find a new one all together. I think Merit just needs a little (how you say) "sex". I think it might lighten her up a bit and maybe she will start to enjoy her new life a little more. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book.

I, like most readers, loved Some Girls Bites and waited in anticipation for the second installment of the Chicagoland Series with high expectations. Needless to say, Ms. Neill did not disappoint. Friday Night Bites, which takes place just weeks after we left Merit in Some Girls Bites, was every bit as wonderful as its predecessor. Merit is the most intriguing female heroine in any vampire series, and her wit and skills run circles around Bella and Sookie. This installment also gave the readers a bigger glimpse into Merit's life as a Chicago "Merit" pre-vampire, while at the same time, capturing her conflicting relationships with friends and relatives post-vampire. There is just no other series that follows a vampire's transformation with such finesse and style. It kept me up hour after hour just waiting to see what would happen next. Chloe Neill brings her characters to life and makes you want to know more about them.
True the book does not follow the typical romance plot---girl meets boy, obstacles arise that keep them apart till the very end of the novel when they decide to go for it anyway---but then again, it shouldn't because it is not a romance novel.
The Chicagoland Series is a tale of urban fantasies about modern-day vampires with measured elements of romance and sexual tension. I personally appreciate that Merit's feelings for her liege are "complicated" and that she doesn't jump into the sack with every hot guy she meets while trying to work out those feelings. This not only makes her easier for most of us to identify with (if we ever accidentally became a vampire with a sexy boss), but it also makes her a heroine I can respect and keeps the plot fresh, interesting, and most of all, unpredictable. Am I hoping one day Merit and Ethan will give in to their carnal desires and go for it, why yes I am, but only after Ethan gets over himself. And the wait for such an event does not keep the story line any less entertaining. I am thoroughly enjoying the shenanigans Merit, Ethan and the rest of the crew gets into along the way. Cannot wait for installment number 3 and have no doubt, Ms. Neill will keep me wanting more.
