Product Description: Born into evil and ice, Dragonseeker Lara Calladine longs to find the source of her nightmares. The only man who can help her is Nicolas De La Cruz who, for centuries, has longed to feel the sensual love of a woman without a hunger for blood. He's found the perfect mate in Lara. But their mysterious pasts share a secret that could destroy them both.

Ok, I loved Nicolas De La Cruz, but, was a bit put off by Lara Calladine. I understood her problems, but, thought she should have dealt with them better. Questions were answered - that is good, but, getting to them, well it took a little to much detail (time). That got a little old. Then there was all the language explanation at the back? Well just give it to me in the book. Overall I have to give it a four.

This book is getting back to the style that made me love Christine Feehan in the first place. It's detailed and exciting, without being a "formula piece", as a few of her recent books were becoming.
I don't know where the Carpathians are going next, but I'm hoping to see how the next generation fares. Perhaps Gregori and Savannah or Dimitri and Skyler will be the "new hope" of the people. I'd like to see some of the current couples successful in their attempts for close-knit little families in this truly fascinating race dedicated to keeping us mortals safe from the vampire.

I enjoyed this installment from Ms. feehan because, finally, the reason for the tragic miscarriages and infant mortality is revealed.
It took a while for me to comprehend Lara. Although she is a strong match for Nicholas, there was an aloofness to her that was hard to let her personality shine through. But she stepped up to her character and became crucial to the salvation of the Carpathian race and the redemption of Nicholas. I was surprised, though, at those critizing Lara's suicide attempt. This was a pivotal component to the story and a turning point for the relationship. Lara was absolute in that she would leave this world than ever be used or dominated again. Nicholas was forced not only to follow her and bring her soul back, he had to live firsthand the nightmare of Lara's childhood under her sadistic grandfather, Xavier, while discovering the torture and sacrifice her father, Razvan, endured for centuries to protect Lara and the Carpathian people.
I was enchanted with the sacredness and beauty of the Warrior's and the Healing caverns. Both settings provided great moments of brevity and clarity of the characters of the key Carpathians. Gregori is always true to who he is, staunch protector of old world Carpathan values. Mikhail is the consumate moderator who stays back quietly to let everyone to speak their mind. It was wonderful to see Lara fit right in with the Carpathian rituals and both Destiny and Jaxon seem to have confidently integrated with their strong places into Carpathian society.
I found the new characters, Andre and Tariq, bold and hilarious in their assertiveness to take control of the psychic network, by hook or by crook, and their taking the lifemated males to task over "allowing" their females to fight vampires. It was good to get a glimpse of Dimitri, still solditary but holding on while he waits for Skyler to come of age.
The perilous journey of Lara, Nicholas, Natalya, and Vikirnoff into the ice caves to find the aunts was tense and kept me on edge. Also, Natalya really seemed to mature now that she has love and belongs to a community, as she always longed for. Finding the two Dragonseeker women was a special bonus and eventually they will formidible lifemates to some Carpathian males (possibly to the wayward Andre and Tariq).
I agreed wholeheartedly with Destiny's assertion that females all have a role to play whether as researchers, healers, or fighters. I hope that once the aunts are fully healed, all the women will crash a warrior's meeting to demand that those women who want to learn to fight vampires should be trained to do so. After all, in Dark Demon Raven fought at Mikhail's back and a pregnant Sara fought alongside Falcon.
The naming ceremony for the Jacques and Shea's son was a beautiful snapshot of the a touching Carpathian tradition, I hope we get to see more families in future books because now there is hope. I look forward to Shea and Francesca finding a way to eradicate the killer microbes from the soil in order for Lara to be eventually converted. Much sacrifice was asked of Lara and Nicholas and I want them to have a happy life.

I was so disappointed in this book! I really enjoyed the earlier books, but this one was completely boring and did almost nothing to advance knowledge or solve mysteries about the Carpathians. I wish she would just finish the series instead of dragging it on like this! The characters were not believeable and I just didn't care about them at all.
