Editorial Review:

Amazon.com Review:
Mark Twain's classic novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, tells the story of a teenaged misfit who finds himself floating on a raft down the Mississippi River with an escaping slave, Jim. In the course of their perilous journey, Huck and Jim meet adventure, danger, and a cast of characters who are sometimes menacing and often hilarious.

Though some of the situations in Huckleberry Finn are funny in themselves (the cockeyed Shakespeare production in Chapter 21 leaps instantly to mind), this book's humor is found mostly in Huck's unique worldview and his way of expressing himself. Describing his brief sojourn with the Widow Douglas after she adopts him, Huck says: "After supper she got out her book and learned me about Moses and the Bulrushers, and I was in a sweat to find out all about him; but by and by she let it out that Moses had been dead a considerable long time; so then I didn't care no more about him, because I don't take no stock in dead people." Underlying Twain's good humor is a dark subcurrent of Antebellum cruelty and injustice that makes The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn a frequently funny book with a serious message.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Should be on every school's reading list!
This is an unbelievably amazing book, an absolute must-read for children and adults alike. Through the years, this book has been misunderstood, misinterpreted, even maligned - hence banned from schools - an absolute travesty! In my humble opinion, there probably has not been a book written in history which encomposses as much of the complicated human condition as this one. I started reading this book at elementary school age and never stopped. One continues to absorb so many different things from it - as a child and as an adult - as if it is a different book every time you read it, and all these things are valuable in their own way. It is hard to relay the value of this book unless you read it, and it should be on every school reading list!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
My teenage daughter was tasked by her english class teacher to write a book report on a book of her choosing,as long as the book was one of the classics. She asked for my help in finding a book, I suggested The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I checked E-Bay and found that the book was available in paperback for a very low price, and in less than two weeks, the book arrived.

My daughter read the entire book, which was a surprise to me because I don't remember her reading anything that was not a teen magazine, and wrote her book report. I'am glad to say that she thanked me and wanted me to know how much she enjoyed the book even though her teacher felt that she had help writing the report.I wonder where she got that idea.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - awesome
exactly what I expected, the description matched the product perfectly, the book was in mint condition.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Annotated Huckleberry Finn
Michael Patrick Hearn's annotation of Twain's Huckleberry Finn is a wonderful composite of scholarship written about Huckleberry Finn over many years, and in my opinion, should be on everyone's bookshelf who is a serious reader of Twain. I belong to a weekly book club of mature readers who enjoy a deeper interpretation of style, content, multiple levels of meaning, and philosophy of all "classics" of literature. In the case of Huckleberry Finn, we all had read the book earlier in our lives, and we have enjoyed it all the more reading it now.

Hearn's book will likely be a classic in itself one day.

My only criticism is the numbered annotations are set side by side in the text which makes it more difficult for me to read. I would prefer that they all be listed at the end of each chapter.
