Product Description:
With a dagger in her hand and vengeance on her mind, Darkhaven beauty Elise Chase prowls Boston’s streets in search of retribution against the Rogue vampires who took from her everything she cherished. Using an extraordinary psychic gift, she tracks her prey, well aware that the power she possesses is destroying her. She must learn to harness this gift, and for that she can turn to only one man—the deadliest of the Breed warriors, Tegan.

No stranger to loss, Tegan knows Elise’s pain. He knows fury, but when he slays his enemies it is with ice in his veins. He is perfect in his self-control, until Elise seeks his aid in her personal war. An unholy alliance is forged—a bond that will link them by blood and vow—and plunge them into a tempest of danger, desire, and the darkest passions of the heart. . . .

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - TAMING OF THE BEAST!!
Elise Chase, the one woman who has tamed & clouded the mind of the savage & ravenous beast, Tegan. The most ferocious & deadliest warrior of the members of the Order. Who has been as COLD as ICE to anyone he has come in contact with for well over five centuries.

Until Elise enters Tegan's life, the direct element they both have in common is the loss of their mates. However, Elise's loss also involves the death of her ONLY son, Camden. Who was tragically taken away four months ago by the Rogue induce drug Crimson.

Tegan's loyality is always first to the Order; however, when Elise is out after dark, (on her own vengeful purpose, to take out as many Minions as posssible), & about to be attacked by a Rogue. Tegan being out on patrol already, leaps in & saves Elise. Dramatically altering his life as he knows it.

After days & nights giving Elise HOT/COLD symbols, she's just about had it. With the sexual intimate moments they've shared, to the mere moments Tegan was about to open his heart to her, then instantly removing & tightly securing it before anyone would notice. Elise is sent into a tailspin of emotions & confusion. Losing herself within the web she & Tegan has cast upon themselves. Extracting her one & only purpose from her mind, to revenge Camden's death.

Tegan's revelation on his irrefutable necessity came to light upon discovering that Elise was about to be killed & taken away from his grasp by another male. Tegan confronts Elise in her bedroom after he has bared witness to a kiss she received from Andreas, the other male. Tegan loses control of the layers of wall he has constructed around his heart for all of these years. Once those thick boulders come crashing down, so does the ability & tight hold he has on his emotions, lustful desires, & yearnful attraction toward Elise. Staking his claim within her & sealing their irrevocable fate forever.

Lara Adrian's writing of the Breed Series is an undeniable sexually gratifying romance, action, suspense/thiller. To claim which one of the books is my favorite would be an understatement. Each one depicts it's own scenario to a common valor of humankind. With it's Breed Warriors of the Order & Breedmates to possess pure acclaimed attributions to one another is much to be desired for. This series is beyond excellence, and I cannot wait to come to it's conculsion to the fate of the Breed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES, & IT DEFINITELY DESERVES BEYOND A 5 STAR RATING!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - MIDNIGHT AWAKENING
When you read this you will want to read the next and the next after . Take my advice start at the begining and read them all!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Series Keeps Getting Better
In this third entry of the "Crimson Diaries" (my title not Ms. Adrian) we find that the pace of the overarcing plot continues thicken and Ms. Adrian has found her form in introducing readers to Tegan the lethal, deadly, solitary vampire warrior who lives to protect his race from violent Rogue Vampires and their human slaves called Minions.

Tegan has existed for centuries living only on to himself under a self-imposed law of kill his enemies and do it well. Having suffered the loss of his Breedmate Sorcha in a violent way hundreds of years before at the hands of his most brutal enemy, Tegan has decided that the best way to go through life is to let nothing reach deep behind his mask of rage and self-hatred. Until he meets Elise Chase a widowed Breedmate who is living among humans outside of the Darkhavens to exact revenge on the Minions who she feels were directly responsible for the death of her son Camden.

Now while I won't get into breaking down all of the intricacies of Ms. Adrian's world (you gotta do that one yourself by reading the series), I will say that in this effort she keeps the pacing brisk and the action taut throughout the book. I immediately like Elise and her willingness to possibly sacrifice even her own life if it meant she made a dent in the legion of undead who took her sons life. What was most likeable about her was that there were no histrionics and fits of vapors, just a grieving wife and mother resigned to the possibility that her life might well end in her continued pursuit.

Tegan I liked a bit less than Dante from Ms. Adrian's previous book. I never really got the sense that he was redeemed by Elise's love and this was never more evident than toward the end of the book where after admitting their love (but I felt it was more affection on his part) he ONCE AGAIN RUSHES OFF SOLO to find out what happens to an important key to the puzzle the book is centered around. I felt this disconnect with his character made the book suffer just a tad. But in the end, they get their man so to speak and the possibilities for the series take an interesting twist in that future books will not be centered around the group chasing just one bad guy but trying to unravel a sinister plot for Vampire-kind that has taken centuries to get in gear. Now that type of common sense approach to a series makes sense and will certainly keep me coming back for more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wow! Best one of a series, 5 stars plus!!
Mr. Too Tightly Torn-up Terror meets Mrs Too Tightly Torn up Tidy Pants and the story grips the reader from chapter one until the exciting end. The end portends greater evils to fight and more adventures to face. Woo Hoo! This is why anybody reads fiction. The author Lara Adrian has delivered a great story, great protagonists, great romance and great action.
The first chapter was fabulous. We follow a tiny woman, using her dead son's IPOD's rock music to fight the flood of thoughts swarming into her head. She sorts through them all before she drowns in the waves of incoming thoughts. Finally she hears the vicious murderous thoughts of a human who is a slave to a vampire (Minion) and she follows him. Concentrating on the Minion, she follows him to a FED EX store and jack-pot. She finds out not only the Minion she is going to kill, but that he is serving the vampire that was responsible for her beloved son's death. It is getting close to sundown and she knows she has to kill the Minion and get back to her soundproofed flophouse room before she is easy prey for predatory creatures. She kills the Minion. But it is after sundown and soon she is being followed. Tegan, the ancient Breed warrior, is out hunting for Rogue vampires. He has been doing this for centuries. Rogue vampires are ones that have fallen to the disease of Bloodlust and spend all their time wantonly killing humans. The Breed vampires have been protecting humans from Rogues so that humans can blissfully live unaware that they share earth with vampires.
Tegan recognizes the tiny woman to be Elise, a woman, readers of the series met in the previous book, Kiss of Crimson. Tegan is a warrior of few words. All he cares about is killing Rogue vampires. He is the member of the Breed Order operating in the Boston area. To his utter surprise, Elise, who had been the privileged, coddled, protected widow of one of the richest and most well respected families in the Dark Haven of Boston (community of well bred and well mannered vampires) has dropped out of her polite Dark Haven society and become a vigilante, roaming the Boston streets to kill as many Minions as she can. It was Minions who lured her only son out of the protected walls of Dark Haven to taste the highs of drugs and the drug Crimson turned her son into a Rogue who had to be killed.
The double loss of her husband and her son, unhinges Elise and Tegan finds her with Minion blood on her ragged clothes, a bloody Titanium blade in her pocket and a drawer full of Minion owned cell phones as trophies of her kills in her shabby room.
The author gives us a delightful love story between these two most unlikely of lovers. Tegan is the most tightly controlled of the Breed Order. Tegan had to use his prodigious control to survive the losses he suffered centuries before to fight off his grief, anger and guilt that almost had him fall victim of becoming a Rogue vampire. Elise, the high society Breedmate had to be tightly wound up to be the perfect wife, perfect society hostess, the perfect mother. She was tightly controlled so that her natural gift of mind reading would not drive her insane. In the tightly controlled Dark Haven society, Breed Warriors like Tegan are considered nothing more than uncouth, unrefined, uneducated barbarians to be tolerated. Tight Ass Badass Tegan loses control and falls in love with Tight Ass Society Beauty Elise and she falls in love with Tegan.
The fun of this series is that Elise is full of courage, talents, strength of character and often "saves the day." The author lets the female characters be full partners in the mission of the Breed Order. Elise, Tess and Gabrielle are more than ornamental bedmates. Elise pulls off some amazing kills and show Tegan that his life before her was nothing compared to what it will be with her.
OK, no more spoilers. This book is a keeper. This book is why we read fiction. Keep on keeping on Lara Adrian.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Midnight Awakening: The Midnight Breed Book 3
I have been looking for another series that could compare to the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. This is right up there. I have enjoyed this series and have not been able to put it down. Both series are excellent to read for anyone looking to fill the twilight void.
