A great book to have as a reference on breeds. Color photos are A+, details on breed are very good. One of those books you should have on your shelf if you breed or raise chickens.

I purchased this book for my 11 year old son. We have had chickens for a few years now, mostly due to his interest in them. I chose this book over a few others, mainly because it has actual photographs of birds, versus paintings. Paintings are nice, but photographs are better at seeing what the birds really look like.
My son now has about 50 scraps of paper marking pages with birds that he wants to get. Not sure how I will be able to deliver on that, but that is another story.
The book is great. It has great photographs of each breed, and the text is a good compliment. Regarding completeness of information provided, I cannot comment on that as I am not a chicken expert.

I just recently moved to Pennsylvania, and decided to raise chickens.. and I wasn't completey sure why many chicken books have illustrated photos and not photographs.... but this book does. and many, the glossy pages, detailed photos and indepth descriptions make it a good collection for anyone interested in domestic birds.

What a great book! I am a 4-H Poultry advisor and am often looking for information regarding breeds, patterns, standards, etc. This book was not only gorgeous to look at, it is filled with wonderful information. I just love it.
