Product Description:
The New York Times bestselling author of Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof delivers another captivating novel about women and the choices that define them. This is the story for anyone who has ever wondered: How can I truly love the one I’m with when I can’t forget the one who got away?
Ellen and Andy’s first year of marriage doesn’t just seem perfect, it is perfect. There is no question how deep their devotion is, and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo for the first time in eight years. Leo, the one who brought out the worst in her. Leo, the one who left her heartbroken with no explanation. Leo, the one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long-dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she’s living is the one she’s meant to live. Love the One You’re With is a powerful story about one woman at the crossroads of true love and real life.

I love this author, but I especially love this book. True love isn't a fairy tale and she gets that.

I mainly picked up this book because I thought it'd be an easy read, and I liked the plotline of an ex coming back into someone's life and causing emotional chaos. However the book really surprised me with the depth of its exploration into this one woman's emotions, and how unsentimental it was about her desires to be with this old boyfriend. Not sure whether many people will be able to relate to the main character's honesty, but I found her to be very compelling as a narrator and someone who really "tells it like it is."
I'm a little torn on the ending, but this was overall a very enjoyable novel with a lot of good insights.

While I have thoroughly enjoyed a couple of Emily Giffin's novels (Something Borrowed, and Something Blue), this one was a disappointment. Although it was definitely "fluffy" enough to fulfill a craving for a chick-lit read, I wasn't impressed with the plot. I have never been a big fan of the major theme of a book or movie being "To cheat or not to cheat?" Plus, with this as the theme, I found it really hard to like, or even appreciate, the main character. I found her to be very irritating. Overall, a disappointing book, one that I really didn't enjoy.

This is the first Emily Griffin book that I read. Over all I enjoyed it. At times the main character's actions did become a little frustrating, yet the author was able to keep me intrigued enough to want to continue and finish the book.
I would recommend this book to a friend...and look forward to reading more of her books.

I love Emily Giffin books; however, I enjoyed this far less. The main character hemmed and hawed for pages to decide would she or wouldn't ruin her marriage by sleeping with her ex boyfriend. This mindless reminiscing went on throughout the book. By page 200 I wanted the main character to have sex with Leo or tell him to piss off. Much to my dismay, the plot dragged in this same fashion for another 140 pages. I finished the book for the sake of getting it over with. If the main character had any backbone we could have been done with this nonsense in two pages. Sorry Emily, we have had better from you.
