Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Could have had 5 stars.
Loved the first book, Giving Chase, but I don't know if it's just the Kindle version or the print version, but there seems to be quite a few grammatical and spelling errors throughout the book. I enjoy the stories and will most likely read the entire series since I have them downloaded on my Kindle.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Please Ms Lane, get a Thesaurus
Hi my name is Nicole and I'm a romanceaholic, these books were pretty good, they held my attention and I really did read them quickly. I just kept cringing from the sex scenes.... I am a fan of sex in books by the way. It seems Ms Lane only knows one or two words to describe the female anatomy and there are only so many times I can read p**** (the worst word you could use for it btw). I actually rewrite the sex scenes in my head. Anyhow, great for a quick read.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Difficult choices await.
The first thing you'll notice - if you haven't read a book by Lauren Dane - is how incredibly detailed her books are. This leads to realistic story lines and characters. Taking Chase features the stereo typical hero, Shane, who isn't a settle down with a woman type guy. He is a proud man and fully understands his station in life. That all changes when he meets, Cassie, who sees her abusive ex-husband in the aura around Shane. This makes for an interesting storyline as Cassie tries to find a safe zone within him.

This is where and how Ms. Dane makes this book shine. The pain that Cassie feels and her recovery from an abusive relationship are done to perfection. The book does a remarkable job tugging at the heart strings of the reader while conveying the struggles that are all too real in the life of abuse. It is this abuse that has caused Cassie to doubt her own judgement for fear of what might happen. There must be another way? Well, in response to that fear Cassie has toward Shane, Shane takes a good long look at his life.

The way Ms. Dane has drawn the domestic violence issue, with all of Cassie's, insecurities, and recovery, are so well done that Taking Chase has been compared to an earlier book by JoAnna Wylde: Price of Freedom -- Price of Freedom Having read both books I can say that Taking Chase is as good as Price of Freedom. I really enjoyed this book which has earned its way to the top of my list as one of the better scene setters in the romance genre. The book is tastefully done and I would recommend it to everyone.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Joyfully Reviewed!
Cassie Gambol's first day in Petal, Georgia doesn't go as planned. Wanting nothing more than to quietly find her new apartment, her car is hit from behind by a tiny virago with bouffant hair. Then, to make matters worse, the woman's son is the sheriff and he is looking at her quite intensely. He sets her on edge and feelings she thought long dormant reappear, but Cassie knows that in order to heal, she has to take things one day at a time and stop being scared.

Shane Chase is instantly attracted to the beauty that his mother rear-ended with her car. He wants to know more about her, but she avoids answering personal questions and seems very ill at ease with him. Wondering if maybe she doesn't like him, he is disheartened but yearns to find out the truth. What he finally finds out makes him want to resort to his own brand of violence and Shane vows then and there that no one will hurt his Cassie again, ever.

Cassie and Shane slowly explore their feelings for each other. Both are stubborn and pride often gets in the way. Just when they come to grips with the emotional intensity of their feelings, Cassie's past catches up to her and the only person she can depend on is herself.

Taking Chase called out to my heart with the first scene. When I started reading, I could not believe the change in the man I loved to hate, Shane Chase. Still angry at his meanness in Giving Chase, I made myself give him another chance and I do not regret this decision for a moment. Shane is the ultimate stubborn hero. Content to chase away Cassie's demons, he found redemption in allowing Cassie the freedom of healing. Cassie Gambol. What a fighter she was. Her triumph over adversity made me proud. Scarred, scared, and oftentimes hurting, the words, "uncommon valor" come to mind when I think of her. She humbled me with her spirit.

Taking Chase by Lauren Dane is book 2 of the Chase Brothers series and it is one of those books that you must read over and over. I found it hard to breathe at times because I was so caught up in the story. As Taking Chase unfolded, a sense of calm invaded my soul and I happily continued the ride. Lauren Dane's writing continues to amaze me, and it gives me great pleasure to Joyfully Recommend Taking Chase!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I LOVE SHANE
WELL THIS IS THE SECOND IN THE SERIES AND I LOVED SHANE IN THE FIRST BOOK EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A JERK. BUT WOW THIS BOOK IS SO GREAT. SHANE THE SHERIFF CAN CUFF ME ANYTIME. AND WHEN HE IS FINALLY GIVEN THE CHANCE HE IS THE KIND OF GUY STRONG HEADED AND TAKE CHARGE AND PLEASURE HIS WOMEN IN SO MANY WAYS. ONCE SHE IS ABLE TO GET PAST HER FEARS OF THINKING HE IS GOING TO HURT HER LIKE HER EX. AND ONCE AGAIN I LOVE THE BOYS MOTHER CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE THIRD BOOK AND THE FOURTH IS SOON TO COME.
