This 1987 thriller was a predictable hit with the teen audience it worked overtime to attract. Like most of director Joel Schumacher's films, it's conspicuously designed to push the right marketing and demographic buttons, and granted, there's some pretty cool stuff going on here and there. Take Kiefer Sutherland, for instance. In Stand by Me he played a memorable bully, but here he goes one step further as a memorable bully vampire who leads a tribe of teenage vampires on their nocturnal spree of bloodsucking havoc. Jason Patric plays the new guy in town, who quickly attracts a lovely girlfriend (Jami Gertz), only to find that she might be recruiting him into the vampire fold. The movie gets sillier as it goes along, and resorts to a routine action-movie showdown, but it's a visual knockout (featuring great cinematography by Michael Chapman) and boasts a cast that's eminently able (pardon the pun) to sink their teeth into the best parts of an uneven screenplay. --Jeff Shannon

First of all I have to say this is one of the best transfers to bluray I have seen for an 80's movie. Trust me i have seen/own some subpar ones like T2 and Total Recall. I put this movie in and watched it on my 65 plasma and my wife thought it was a newer movie just released thats how good the picture is. I also showed this to some of my friends and they also admitted that the quality on this was jaw dropping for such an old movie. If you like the movie and want to upgrade to a better quality then don't hesitate to buy this one you won't regret it. Also to note those who say the blu ray version is subpar you might wanna adjust your HD settings to make sure you are getting the most out of it. I had my TV on the factory settings and the picture quality on my blurays were pretty disappointing it wasn't until I started reading some of these reviews that I realized the factory settings were not getting the most out of the HD experience.

What can I say? This is a classic of my generation! Not only does it have good special effects but what they did to the whole classic vampire story was aewsome.Good movie,Good atmospheric cinematography and it was filmed in Santa Cruz!!!If you like vampire movies that don't take themselves too seriously or if your an 80's movie buff then by all means,Get it!!!

Rating: - An 80's horror hit that has never looked better.
For those who are in their mid to late 30's, we all have our ties to the 80's. Some love that decade as I do, and some want to forget it. When it comes to 80's films, I have a special love for them. They symbolize my high school years and make me remember the best times of my life. The Lost boys was one of my all time favorites. At least one of the most watched anyway. The Corey's were hot in that decade and were never really better than in Lost Boy's. Not only was it a funny horror movie, it had a very cool soundtrack and great vibe to it. Though it is outdated now, it still holds up well for pure entertainment value.
That being said, this title has never looked better. It is the best looking tranfer you can get. First off, the film looks very clean. The artifacts and grain have been removed. Giving it a very fresh and clean look. It looks better than many Blu's that are 10+ years newer. The colors are vivid and bright. The blacks are very deep and stable throughout the entire film. It has that 3 dimentional pop to it. I was very surprised and happy to see it look so good. The fleshtones are right on. The detail of skin textures is amazing. Seing details of a movie that you have seen dozens and dozens of times is a nice surprise after 20 years. Everything is in focus and very sharp from beginning to end. Couldn't ask for anything more. Day and night scenes are equally impressive.
