Editorial Review:
Description: Six unemployed men, inspired by a touring group of male strippers, decide they can make a small fortune by putting on a striptease show of their own-but with one small difference. They intend to go the 'full monty' and strip completely naked! In this hilarious, heartfelt comedy, these six friends discover the inner strength to bare it all in front of the world. This 'enchantingly funny crowd-pleasing' comedy (David Ansen, Newsweek) features the music of Donna Summer, Gary Glitter, Sister Sledge and Tom Jones.
Amazon.com essential video: A group of unemployed Yorkshire steelworkers hopes to replenish their empty wallets and boost their flagging morale by following in the footsteps of the Chippendale's strippers. These guys are hardly what you would think of as buff, and few can even dance. They simply take these problems in stride, because these are men with a plan--displaced, unemployed, and feeling suffocated by the women in their lives, they just want to earn a little respect. The dialogue and interaction between these men will have you screeching with laughter, but of equal importance is their sense of camaraderie and caring. First-time director Peter Cattaneo is a name to watch for; he easily conveys the sheer humanity of these people in their small town with their sad stories and irresistible sense of optimism. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Rating: - Fun Fun Fun!
This movie had me laughing from beginning to end. Although the subject of unemployment is no laughing matter, these gentlemen have a plan. And what a plan it is! It really becomes a comedy as we watch the clumsy attempts to dance and strip. The characters' backgrounds, truth stretching, and awkwardness is also charming as well as funny to watch. I have to admit to watching it twice because of the British accents and expressions. The best part is watching the reactions of the guys, and then the ladies. It's a romp to be enjoyed. Although I'm not so sure it's a collectible. Maybe a rental? See it if you want a good laugh watching desperate people do funny things.
Rating: - A Fun Film!
A film that explores some of the human issues that men face in a really comedical way.
Rating: - The Full Monty
This is a wonderful movie of some British Steel Workers who are laid off work. One guy has a son and cannot pay his child support, so he gets an ideal of forming a strippers group. No..it does not show the front of them.naked.. a disappointment..laughs. But is a great movie!

Please note that this is for the two-disc "Fully Exposed" edition:
If you're reading this you're probably already a fan or at least have read other reviews telling you how great the movie is, so I won't clutter the place with more of the same.
But it has to be said that after ten years of being stuck with a DVD that counts "Interactive Menus" as a special feature, I'm beside myself that there's finally some REAL special features to be had.
We get to see some of the history regarding the brass band featured throughout the film, development of the script and production, not to mention two different commentary tracks.
But the real gem, as far as I'm concerned, is the featurette "Translating English to English". It really exposes this bizarre paranoia that the American side of the production had.
Rewinding a bit, I started my Monty obsession with a VHS copy of the movie and always wondered why some of the words didn't match the facial movements of the actors. When the tape wore out I replaced it with the first DVD version, which had an "Original UK audio track" option. Playing that, I realised that they had dubbed some of the words for the US version and that's why it always looked so goofy.
Even funnier, it wasn't the weirder UK expressions like "Chuffing Nora" or "Don't get a benny on". No, they dubbed words like "DIY" into "how-to" and "tw-t" into "git". Tw-t into git?? How is "git" any easier for the supposedly confused ... Read More
