If you doubt it, check out this special 25th anniversary edition of the original soundtrack album, which features lyrics and music by Anthony Newley, who was a major influence on David Bowie and whose work on this film has clearly inspired '90s rockers from Veruca Salt (who took their name from the spoiled rich girl) to the Butthole Surfers (who could easily cover the sinister, trippy "Wondrous Boat Ride". If you were one of the unlucky children whom didn't manage to beg your mother into buying this for you in the 70's , nows your chance to have it as a new fangled CD! Be forwarned: This is an old school soundtrack album! That is , it has all the songs , but it also has some dialogue and sound effects. ( suitable for your answering machine! "Is the grisly reaper mowing" ? ). If you love this movie , this will bring back pleasant memories , and make you wonder why Gene Wilder never had a singing career! My only complaint about this package , is it is touted as the "25th Anniversary Edition" , and yet is identical to the original vinyl release! No bonus tracks / outtakes. No booklet full of pictures , lyrics , stories : just a lonely single folded over piece of paper , with a company stooge blathering about how wonderful the film is. ( We know that , nimrod , why do you think we bought it?. ). That said , buy it for the music , and don't worry any bonuses , it's a tasty treat for your ears and heart! Rating: - A good CD for kids. My child is in the Willy Wonka play,and he asked me to buy him the CD because he needed to practice. He loves it, and he even downloaded the CD onto his iPod! I highly reccomend for children 7-13. Rating: - Umpa Lumpa Dumpa De Do. I am glad I came across this disc. It brought back many happy childhood memories I have from when this movie was originally released. Rating: - A great cd to go with the movie Songs like 'Pure Imagination' and the 'Oompa Loompa song' are songs that I don't think you'd forget at once but when you've got the cd to go with the movie you can then play them as often or as little as you want but I love hearing Gene Wilder's voice as the guy with a pure imagination and then watching how he opened up his doors to the public and just love hearing the music and words of the other songs too. Rating: - Love this CD! Love it...one of the greatest movies ever made and now we can listen to the original music whenever we want. My kids LOVE it! see more
