this product works as listed, other than the only drawback being that it does muffle sound quality when used to lower volume.

I typically have my ipod in a leather case, tucked in my pocket, and I don't want to have to dig it out when I want to adjust the volume. This device is a practical & inexpensive solution to that function.

I use it as an extension because my SkullCandy headphones do not reach the back of my computer, never use them with my ipod though but the quality is fine

this item is an inexpensive handy item to adjust the volume on your IPod, etc without using the control of the IPod.
However, this is not an amplifier, but a vclume control only
