This is where everyone's favorite red monster winds up when he stars in his first feature film, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. Elmo learns a lesson when he refuses to share his blanket with his best friend, Zoe, then loses it in Oscar's can, where it goes all the way to Grouchland. There the beloved blanket winds up in the clutches of the greediest man alive, Huxley (played by Mandy Patinkin), and Elmo has to venture alone to Huxley's lair to get it back. The Sesame Street gang follows Elmo but ends up in the Grouchland jail. Fortunately, whenever things start looking too bleak, our hosts Ernie and Bert stop the film and offer reassurance. There are also numerous opportunities for audience participation (canned kids' voices will prevent parents from feeling too silly when viewing at home). This 73-minute film has plenty to entertain the youngsters as well as details and inside jokes for parents. And of course there are marvelous animated effects--although seeing Elmo dance in 1999 isn't quite as remarkable as it was to see Kermit ride a bicycle in 1977's The Muppet Movie. The songs are fun and bouncy, and veteran performers Patinkin and Vanessa Williams (as the Queen of Trash) contribute their exceptional talent. I've read many bad reviews about kids getting upset when Elmo loses his blanket. What a bunch of sissies. There kids need to watch this video in order to grow a spine. Rating: - Elmo was a hit!! Rating: - My 15 month olds favorite seasame street show My mom brought this movie for my son on sale at target for five bucks because we know he loves elmo. Well, he was 13 months at the time I didn't think he would sit there for a 73 minute movie. Boy was I wrong, he has the biggest smile now when we turn on this movie. The songs are great and the movie is enjoyable enough for me and my mom to watch over and over again. I just thought this movie was so cute and well directed and funny. I recommend this to anyone who has a child who loves seasame street and music. Rating: - Not a good movie for toddlers My 2 year old loved this movie when we got it for him. He still loves it to date and cries to watch it. Ever since he claims everything to be his, he uses the words mine, me, I a lot. There are also other words that he learned from the movie, like greedy, stupid and more. I do not think that this is the best movie for a little child. I read some reviews of kids who got scared and upset for elmo losing his blankie. My son is almost 2.5 years and I am trying hard to get the idea of "Mine" out of his head, he wants everything to be his own, funny but frustrating sometimes. Rating: - OUR FAVORITE ELMO VIDEO (15 month old son & Mommy and Daddy) Elmo In Grouchland is fantastic. My son is just 15 months old and LOVES Elmo. Everything about this dvd is fantastic, my son loves it that Elmo dances around so much in the video. Since he's a toddler he doesn't have the attention span to sit and watch the whole thing, he runs off and plays and sits when it catches his eye again later. (Which is find, developmentally, it's not good for him to sit and veg out for the whole 78 minutes of the movie. The music is good, so I don't mind playing this several times a day for him, the smile on his face makes it all worthwhile. :) see more
