Editorial Review: That cute little squishy guy is back in all his pastel glory to sweeten up 2-D life on the Nintendo 64. With 3-D games such as Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64 getting the bulk of attention among consumers, Kirby 64 provides a fun change of pace for both young and experienced gamers who don't necessarily need all three dimensions to have fun.
Young gamers will love the bright, colorful graphics in this game, which is 2-D with some 3-D foreground and background elements. Kirby is joined by plenty of friends who will aid in his quest to recover the pieces of an important shattered crystal.
While the levels are a bit too easy for older gamers, the gameplay in Kirby 64 is original enough to entertain all ages. Kirby still has an appetite for enemies, sucking them up and spitting them out, but he can also swallow them, inheriting abilities such as fire and cutter. Also, Kirby can now combine enemy powers, often with hilarious results. For instance, electricity plus stone turns Kirby into an electrifying little light bulb. Sure, you don't need to use all these powers, but they're still fun to play with. --Robb Guido

- Kirby 64's copy and combine abilities result in some unique and varied gameplay

My son had to have this. He liked it, but got frustrated at some things. Couldn't tell you what they are. He is 9.

I had this game since I was a little kid.
Pros
-Great music for an old game...I still go on youtube listening to them to this day
-fun and simple gameplay
-great graphics
-the simplicity overall is extremely fun
cons
-you basically do the same thing, just kill enemies, so it can get boring once in a while.
-pretty short

My kids love it. Expect at the end where Kirby and Ribbon battle Zero Two that has some blood in it because if you shoot Zero Two with the crystal gun, he shoots blood at you.

This game is one of the funnest games out there, but the length and levels are what need improvement. The graphics and sound are slightly above average. What really makes this game fun is that you can now combine 2 Kirby abilities to make one very powerful ability. The boss battles aren't as good as some of the other kirby games, but they are still fun overall. The level design is usually great, but a few levels are boring. I rate this game 86/100.

After reading the reviews on here, I wanted to add my own. This is a GREAT game for younger children!!! I just downloaded this from wii shop virtual console, and my 4 and 6 year old daughters love it so much, they can't stop playing. I agree older kids might get bored with it, but for younger kids, they can actually play it and not get confused, once you show them the beginning and explain the moves to them which takes like 5 minutes (if they can't read), they can play, play, play and really understand and love this game.
