I thought these cotton pads were great! I was surprised that they were so soft and yet strong. My German shepherd dog had an ear infection and those big ears of hers had to be cleaned with solution and cotton before I could put the ear drops in. These pads were just great for the job! Works well for putting on and taking off makeup and nail polish. Even used one as a makeshift gauze beneath a bandage. Inexpensive enough to use and toss and tough enough to reuse if needed. I really like the fact that they are lint-free (compared to regular cotton) and are very absorbent. Compared to the regular sized cotton balls, they're wonderful. But, I still like the feel of the jumbo sized cotton balls better than these. I haven't had a chance to use them yet for removing polish, but I'm willing to bet that they work better than just about anything (because of the lint factor).
