Sally Field won a Best Actress Academy Award for playing 'Norma Rae', and with good reason. She played the Strong, Compassionate no-nonsense woman to perfection.This type of woman, who earns success and stays compassionate doesn't come around everyday: Senator Hillary Clinton has it: In the 2008 Presidential Primary race, Hillary Clinton not only earned more votes than any of her rivals, she earned more votes than any other Presidential Primary candidate in the history of America (and earned 311 electoral votes, to her Party's presumptive nominee who earned 227 - 270 needed to win in November - On August 28,2008, the Party chooses it's nominee for President)

Very, very good part. Sally Field, plays a wonderful role. I personal know what's it's like to work for a factory, even thou there was union. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes Sally Field.

Sally Field protays Norma Rae, a machine operator in a cotton processing facility, she led a group in organizing a Union for factory workers, and overcame the establishment and with courage and she was sucessfull in establishing a union in the factory. She is one of the finest actress in films. I would recommend that any who wants to establish a union in there work place watch the movie.

The diminutive but plucky Field, who got her start playing Gidget on television, achieved breakout movie stardom with her assured, Oscar-winning performance as Norma Rae, who evolves from pliant employee to impassioned agitator for workers' rights. The interplay between Norma Rae and unlikely ally Reuben (Leibman) is interesting to watch, but ultimately it's the emergence of Norma Rae's righteous fire that's most memorable, reminding us that in this country, fighting for the fair treatment of working people is both a right and necessity.
