You may be surprised to discover that the director of the Lethal Weapon movies and scary horror flick The Omen, Richard Donner, also produced and directed this classic children's adventure (which, by the way, was written by Donner's screen-wizard friend Steven Spielberg). Then again you may not. The Goonies, like Donner's other movies, is the same story of good versus evil. It has its share of bad guys (the Fratelli brothers and their villainous mother), reluctant-hero good guys (the Walsh bothers and their gang of friends), and lots of corny one-liners. Like in an old-fashioned Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew plot, the Goonies need to solve a problem: a corrupt corporate developer has bought out their neighborhood and plans to flatten all their homes. Luckily, the beloved gang stumbles on a treasure map. In the hopes of finding the treasure to buy back their houses, the Goonies embark on their quest through underground passages, aboard pirate ships, and behind waterfalls. This swashbuckling and rollicking ride was also a great breeding ground for a couple of child actors who went on to enjoy numerous successes in adulthood: Sean Astin (Rudy, Encino Man) and Martha Plimpton (Pecker, 200 Cigarettes). --Samantha Allen Storey

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - OMG fastest shipping ever!
This was a great shopping pleasure, everything was as said and seller was so kind. Thank You!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Crazy 80's hit!
This movie is a reminder of how crazy the 80s were. Especially the Cindy Lauper music video with all the WWF wrestlers. Its a funny story that keeps you entertained. It tugs on your imagination and lures you in to a time when we could beleive in hidden treasure and evil pirates. I cant believe how young our Samwise Gamgee was in this flick- or how HUGE that BabyRuth bar was.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Childhood and Adulthood Favorite
Whoever dislikes this movie needs to recheck their childhood a little. This movie became quite a phenomenon for me and a lot of my friends in the 1980s. It was so influential, in fact, that I went cave-hunting for months in the woods near my house, until my grandfather finally took me to some caves in Kentucky and I spent the whole time pretending we were treasure hunters.

Likewise, my friends and I used to hide stuff, draw up fake treasure maps wander around the back yard looking for the treasures. I think one of my braver friends even tried to set a few boobie traps.

My point: This is what good films do. They stay with us long after we watch them. Only those who have followed me longer after earn five stars. This is one of the best.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Kids Adventure Movie!
I remember seeing this movie in the theatre as a kid and was riveted. It has action, adventure, a great story, a fun soundtrack, great acting (Ann Ramsey, Sean Astin and Martha Plimpton are notable) and more. Because of some mild profanity and quick drug references (in a humorous scene) at the beginning, I suggest ages 10 and up as a guideline. Your kids will love it, and you just might too!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Goonies
Who doesn't like The Goonies? You'd have to be a loser or been born under a rock! I suggest you buy this movie and another copy to give to someone.
