So I am one of the holdouts still using film, preferring it to my digital cameras. My #1 reason is because I have an Olympus Stylus Epic with a non-zooming lens. It easily fits in a pocket, and the pictures it takes are good enough to blow up to poster size, whereas digital P&S cameras aren't good enough for that.
However I prefer shooting wider than the Epic's 35mm, and having a zoom seemed fun, so I tried out this camera. First impressions were good - it's not tiny, but it's smallish, and fits in a pants pocket without too much difficulty. Operation is quick and easy, metering is good, and I have no complaints there.
However the lens is problematic. Used on the wide end in good light, results are quite good, if not great - I haven't blown any of the pictures up poster-sized, but they looked fine.
Zooming the lens in gives ridiculously bad results. Particularly if you zoom all the way, it's ridiculously low resolution and everything just becomes a blobby mess. Furthermore, the max aperture at 100mm is like F10, so unless it's a bright sunny day, there'll be camera shake anyway. So I consider this more of a 28-50mm lens.
Also, if it's in less-than bright conditions where the camera has to shoot at max. aperture, the vignetting and blurring in the corners is very, very strong. It reminds me of using a toy camera. Sometimes I seem to get a bit of edge blurring even in good light.
So my final verdict is that while it's not a terrible camera, it's not a compelling one, either.

It's a great idiot-proof camera to take pictures when you're rushed or in crowded venues on vacation. Dealer told me it was the best value for the dollar and I believe he is correct.

My husband picked this up so we could take good shots of our new baby. Grandparents, parents and everyone else is amazed at the studio-quality shots. Hey, the baby is gorgeous, but it takes a good camera to bring out the best! We found it especially good in flourescent lighting, where many cameras leave a lot to be desired. Also, our baby has blue eyes and the red-eye reduction feature really eliminates red eyes. A definite buy!
