If you read all the reviews of this film below based on the VHS version, you'll see it is one of the more enjoyable films of the late 1980s. Everything said about it is correct, and I stand by the praise I gave it as well. I just wanted to alert viewers of the DVD, however, that there are NO special features. It's a bit odd for a DVD not to have any, but that explains why this is is so inexpensive. Of course, the nice thing is, it's widescreen, so you can see the full picture.

"Gross Anatomy" is a predictable, but heartwarming, little film about five eager first-year medical students. I appreciated the occasionally goofy medical humor and the fine performances from all the actors, notably Christine Lahti, as a rigidly serious, if ultimately well-intentioned anatomy instructor This film has been sadly overlooked for years; it deserves more than a passing glance.

As I first watched this film, I too was in a Gross Anatomy class as part of Athletic Training Program. I think this is a great movie about getting the desire to really succeed, although the interviews were pretty funny.... "gynecology".... A definite coming of age movie that has a lot more than just the simple story, and touches that belief in ones self above all others. Still love the line,"my dad is a cardiologist, I ahve seen lots of dead bodies" ...

Gross Anatomy (1989) -It's about An independent, freewheeling med student enrolls in the toughest course in the curriculum - Gross Anatomy. With his style is at odds with everything around him he must pass muster with the demanding professor and his lab partner who won't let anything interfere with her plans - not even the fact that he's fallen in love with her. **I love this movie cause it shows how involved we are all in each others lives. & how only "one person" can have that influence on us in such a crucial period of our lives. Wanting from us to be better than who we ever wanted to be ourselves! So we be! ....how rare is it to find such devoted people!?

Having graduated from medical school, I can identify with the issues and feelings portrayed in this film. I think this film was done wonderfully without all the "cliches" and "larger than life" portrayals of other films concerned with this subject. I would highly recommend this film to all interested in the subject and in seeing a well done film in general.
