Product Description: John Candy and Eugene Levy charge into the world of private security in the outrageous action-comedy ARMED AND DANGEROUS. Unfortunately they're usually charging in the wrong direction! When Candy a bungling cop and Levy an inept lawyer lose their jobs they wind up together at the Guard Dog Security Company. After thorough training in the use of firearms (for two hours) they're raring to go. But even as security guards they can't cut it and rip-offs take place right under their noses. Eventually they figure out the robberies aren't coincidental and that their company is in cahoots with the security union's mobster president (Robert Loggia 'Jagged Edge'). Eager to snag the crooks Candy and Levy set out as spies and in a wild car chase turn a million-dollar heist into an armored carnival! When the dust finally settles Candy and Levy save the day as the hilarious rent-a-cop duo who are never more funny than when they're ARMED AND DANGEROUS.System Requirements:Running Time: 88 Min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: PG-13 UPC: 043396078840 Manufacturer No: 07884
Amazon.com: Perhaps Stripes and Caddyshack screenwriter Harold Ramis and Commando director Mark Lester were not an ideal collaborative team. But while this 1986 misfit comedy is something of a misfire, SCTV fans can take heart in watching John Candy and Eugene Levy triumph over weak material as mismatched security guards who stumble upon mob corruption. Candy, in particular, does wonders with a role that in lesser hands would have been a mere 'fatty falls down' stereotype. He plays a cynical disgraced cop who takes Levy's cowardly former lawyer under his wing ('Stick with me, I'll keep you out of trouble,' he reassures him). Like Ramis's character in Stripes, Levy rises to the occasion under fire, and even gets the girl--Meg Ryan in early ingénue mode, trying out the fetching grins and ingratiating smiles that would make her America's sweetheart three years later in When Harry Met Sally. --Donald Liebenson

Rating: - Classic Candy and Levy!!! And Meg Ryan b4 the LIPS!!!
What a classic! I remember this when I was much younger. It would come on HBO and my mom would record it, but edit out all the bad stuff. It was so great to see it in it's entirety!
Classic John Candy as Dooley and Eugene Levy as Cane. Hilarious!!! Oh and Meg Ryan was soo cute before all the lip injections! It's funny to look at people back in the day and now. 99% of them should've left themselves alone!
Rating: - ONE OF THE WORST
one of the worst movies I've seen for awhile. From Meg Ryan's bad hair to the lame writing. Sorry!
Rating: - Good fun
While not one of the best comedy's of the 80's it's still good fun. Eugene Levy & John Candy really work well together and that comes across while watching the movie. There's also a capable supporting cast to back them up. If you like John Candy then this film is for you.
Rating: - Crazy movie
This movie is about as hysterical as you can get. The parody of armed guards is hysterical but frightening. Everything is funny in this movie and Meg Ryan is absolutely gorgeous.
Rating: - A simple bit of fun
I read some of my fellow viewer's comments; I have to say you people need to lightenup somewhat. This is not meant to be a sketch from the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is simple, corny, but fun! The scenario has already been written above, but I think Levy's banter with Candy, especially in the Peep show booth is hilarious. Also in the courthouse as Candy knocks Levy to the ground. "Thanks a lot, made my day." Great stuff! So, if you want to be entertained by pure stupid fun, go ahead, watch and enjoy yourself. This is a funny movie and not meant to impress pseudo-critics, of whom far too many adorn these pages.
