I have owned many portable radios. the sangean 220v by far is superior to all them in frequency separation and ease of use. I do like the convenience of the ear bugs and find the memory to be quite usefull for my frequently used frequencies.

I bought 3 samples of this radio in 2005 and 2006 and continue to use all three of them daily. I am a stereo equipment designer / engineer and I had returned the Tivoli Model One and and Songbook radios which I considered over-rated and performed not nearly as well as this radio for just about a third the cost.
It is clear to me that the designer of this radio loves radios and their design history. I think its cosmetics are beautiful in a 1950's retro kind of way.
Unfortunately, 2 of my 3 radio samples lost the 3rd button AM station memory function, defaulting to 760AM, resulting in 4 stations of AM memory available instead of 5. Keep in mind my samples are from 3 to 4 years ago, so more recent samples may have been corrected.
But the real reason to buy this radio is the superlative sound quality of the headphone jack output. It is the best-sounding, smallest and least expensive High Fidelity TUNER with direct station digital presets on the market at anywhere near this price point. Certainly much better sound than either of the products mentioned above as well as the Walkmans. I was astonished at the sound quality listening through both Sennheiser HD600 and Sony 7506 headphones which are high quality products of several times this radio's cost which certainly would not normally be thought of to be used with the Sangean. The noise/hiss level is somewhat higher than the Tivolis, but I attribute this to the Tivolis which roll off the higher frequencies whereas the Sangean does not.
I haven't evaluated other radios at this price point in a couple years, so others may be comparable. In particular, I look forward to auditioning the newer Sangean PR-D7's headphone output.
But with the 220V, prepare to be astonished when listening with quality headphones. Highly recommended.

Good sound , both voice and music. Presets are big help when used in dark after retiring.

Saw the radio advertised for years, so finally bought 1.
Just after the 90 day warranty expired, found out that 1 of the 5 presets didn't work at all!!!
Some time later, i tried contacting Sangean, at least to llet them know (hoping they's do something about it,...after all, it was my 1st product/new customer!).
They, 1st, didn't return calls.
Then, they suggested i talk to their 'technician' (WHY! It was an obvious & unreparaBLE defect?!!!).
Afetr several messages, HE DIDN"T RETURN MY CALLS!!
They then refuseed to do ANYTHING ABOUT IT (& 'claimed' that if i had called them within even 3 months AFTER the warranty expired, they wolk have still done something about it (yeah, right!!!).
Do NOT buy from this company (even the internal AM antenna broke easily, later)!!!
$60.00dollars WASTED!!!!

I have this going in my kitchen as I cook. The sound is surprisingly good for such a small piece of equipment. I wanted a digital input for the stations. As easy as my car radio.
