Editorial Review:
Product Description: From Sunbeam. Heating and Massage pad offers 2 settings of warmth and 2 settings for massage. Automatic 60 minute shut off.
Amazon.com: This heating pad will help soothe sore muscles from an intense exercise workout, decrease joint stiffness and pain for arthritis sufferers, and relieve the discomfort of menstrual cramps. Three different heat settings, controlled by a convenient slide switch, produce soothing dry-heat therapy at just the right temperature for your ailment. A soft cloth cover keeps the pad from sticking to skin, even when used at its highest setting, and is washable for easy maintenance. The comfortable pad measures 12 by 14 inches--large enough to cover most of the back, or wrap around a leg or shoulder--and has a long 9-foot cord with plenty of reach from plug to couch. Kaz covers this heating pad under a 3-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

I am using the Softheat to warm my feet,
but it is too hot even on the lowest setting.
A thermometer placed between the pad and my feet
shows about 100 degrees F, sometimes as high as 102,
which is too hot. I tried to separate the pad from
my feet by a blanket, but no use - after some
time the heat penetrates it and my feet burn to ashes.
I had 2 Softheat pads over the years and both
had the same problem, so it is a design flaw, not a defective unit.

I searched all over for a heating pad that would stay on all the time. Most of them have a timer that goes off automatically in two hours. This one stays on and it is an even heat. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I didn't order it for myself but for my newborn puppies. My Maltese were very warm and comfy and not at all overheated. I placed it at one end of the box under their cover and when the Mama wanted to get away from her puppies she just went on the other side of the box and the puppies stayed warm.

This heating pad works pretty good. Theres nothing fancy about it, its just a heating pad. It's very inexpensive so you get what you pay for but at least it worked well. I have no complaints

I've had the SoftHeat heating pad for 8 or so years now and am very satisfied with it. I use it to make a yogurt nest for making homemade yogurt, for providing extra warmth so bread will rise in a cold house, and for warming my own mattress before I get into bed on a cold night. I've measured a difference between the heat from the low and medium setting: low is the one to use for yogurt and bread dough.
The removable, washable cover is convenient.

I bought a 12X15 inch Kaz SoftHeat unit in December 2007. On 12/07/2008 the electrical cord unexpectedly broke at the junction of the cord and the blue stress reliever near the control unit, shorted out, and started sparking. Fortunately, I wasn't shocked or burned. The unit saw almost daily use for a back condition but has not been abused. I've contacted Kaz to request a refund. Frankly, I think that the construction of their SoftHeat products is shoddy and unsafe and I won't buy another one of their heating pads.
