Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Jennifer Garner (13 Going On 30 TV's "Alias") Eion Bailey (Fight Club Almost Famous) and Scott Bairstow (TV's "Party of Five") star as three twentysomething best friends living in Los Angeles and having the best - and worst! - times of their lives. Whether falling for a parent's best friend auditioning chickens for a role in a video or writing a father's eulogy Nell (Garner) Campbell (Bailey) and Henry (Bairstow) know that no matter how wondrous ridiculous painful life may be they'll always have each other's friendship to carry them through. The complete series from the creators of "Party of Five" remind us what it's like to be young passionate and willing to risk everything over and over again. There's no one better to do it with that your SIGNIFICANT OTHERS.System Requirements:Running Time: 273 Min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA Rating: NR UPC: 043396056541 Manufacturer No: 05654

Amazon.com:
The 1998 Fox television series Significant Others amounted to six episodes (three of which never aired) before cancellation, but this two-disc set strongly suggests that the witty, nimble dramedy from the creators of Party of Five deserved a longer run. In a nutshell, PO5 went on hiatus in '98, and irritated fans of that series ignored replacement program Significant Others, which follows the career and romance hassles of three twentysomething best friends. Fox pulled the plug on Significant Others very quickly, but fans of actor Scott Bairstow (who went on to a recurring role on PO5) and two terrific actresses, Jennifer Garner and Elizabeth Mitchell (who next turned up in the PO5 spin-off, Time of Your Life), should definitely look into this truncated project.

Bairstow plays Henry, an aspiring writer reduced to churning out website pornography and inexperienced enough to enter, wide-eyed, into an affair with his older, married boss. Campbell (Eion Bailey of Band of Brothers), in defiance of his parents' wishes, stumbles through initial steps to become a producer of children's videos; he's also coping with the shock of discovering pals Henry and Nell (Garner) are getting it on and that an old girlfriend (Mitchell) is marrying his shallow, older brother. Talented Nell, destined for big things but afraid of commitment, hops from one important job to the next and develops an attachment to her absent father's best friend. As with PO5 (and Sisters, another primetime series from some of the same producers), Significant Others treats serious topics with smart dialogue and enough of a light touch to make the series feel comforting and familiar. Still, that's not enough for the irrepressible Garner (Alias, 13 Going on 30), whose enchanting, tragi-comic performance on this series is almost larger-than-life and reminds one of such Golden Age stars as Jean Arthur and Ginger Rogers. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - One question...
Were the songs changed on this set? If not, can someone give me the soundtrack listing of the show, I can't find it anywhere...
Great series BTW, but I kinda understand why it didn't last too long.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Perhaps for teenagers
Perhaps these soppy love stories can entertain teenagers for a while, but I watched this series because I was a fan of Alias and I was sorely disappointed. Don't expect anything like action or good acting in this series.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointment
I bought this series because I love all of the actors from more recent series'. I was sadly disappointed. The acting was truly terrible. The only good thing I could glean from watching this series is that I was able to see how all of these actors evolved to become the great actors they are today. Jennifer Garner has grown to become an incredible actress. Michael Weatherly has improved significantly, although I still wouldn't consider him a great actor. Eion Bailey has improved too. If you really want it, buy it for "historical" reasons. Otherwise, don't buy it at all.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I dont give 5 stars to to many movies.......
This series is absolutly fabulous! I never watched this when it was airing because I never heard of it. I didnt hear about it until about a few weeks ago. I will admit the only reason I even bought this was because of Jen Garner and Michael Weatherly. I didnt exspect to fall in love with the characters. After you watch the last episode you will ask yourself over and over again "Why on Earth would such a great series get cancelled?" If you like Dramadys with an awesome cast this series is for you. But be warned if you like this, you will be sad that there is only 6 episodes.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Choose something other then this insignificant excuse for a TV show
Condered by Jennifer Garner to be her own little secret, 'Significant Others' must have had an incredible impact on her life and the lives of its fans. The same cannot be said for me. I first saw Jennifer Garner in 'Alias', and 'Daredevil', and then 'Felicity' and that made me buy 'Alias'. Then I saw this show available and thought I'd give it a try.

There was not one admirable quality to be found in any of these characters or their lives. I couldn't get passed the pilot episode. I don't know how it could have ever been picked up. I'm not at all surprised three episodes got aired. It is a dreadful show. It doesn't matter what order you see the six episodes in, they are still in the same sorry predicament they were in to begin with.

This is a truly insignificant show and I admire anyone who gets any enjoyment out of it. The only good thing I will say is the theme song seemed pretty catchy and the actors have gone on to better things. This series should never have seen the light of day. Television series must not come any worse then this. I wouldn't normally be this harsh on a television series but there are absolutely no others that deserve such a poor rating then 'Significant Others'.
