Product Description: Imagine having a high powered FM Transmitter, an iPod auto charger AND a convenient iPod cradle. Meet RoadTrip, the only iPod and iPod mini car accessory you'll ever need. RoadTrip makes enjoying an iPod or iPod mini in the car convenient and easy. The RoadTrip plugs into any auto power outlet or lighter adapter and provides an adjustable cradle to charge and hold any docking iPod including the new 4G iPods and the iPod mini. The RoadTrip transmitter can then be set to broadcast iPod's music to any FM frequency from 88.1 to 107.9. Its backlit screen shows which frequency RoadTrip is currently broadcasting -and can easily be adjusted via buttons located directly on the front of the unit. Your iPod's audio is transmitted through the connected dock on the bottom of iPod. Not only is this a superior signal transmission but it also leaves the top of the iPod exposed for use with other iPod accessories like the Griffin iTalk. The RoadTrip is a great FM transmitter and car charger for the iPod in the car, but what makes RoadTrip truly unique is its removable transmitter module that can also broadcast music from a Mac or PC. The package includes a combination USB power and audio connector cable that attaches any USB equipped computer to the module. Users can then play their iTunes music, movie audio or presentation sound to any FM stereo close by. The RoadTrip is compatible with all docking iPods, including the iPod mini. iPods with FireWire ports on top (1st and 2nd gen) will not work with the RoadTrip.

I bought this for listening to podcasts, and for $14, I have no complaints. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and get some static interference, but since I'm not listening to music, it doesn't bother me much. I don't think I'd be very happy with this as a method for playing music. I don't have any experience with other transmitters so I don't know if the static is unique to this product or would be the same across the board. From what I've read of other reviews, I think most any of the transmitters would have the same issue. I think this one has been discontinued - hence, the very low price. It doesn't have an automatic scan to find the best available frequency, like some of the newer ones do. You have to step through the frequencies one at a time to find a suitable one. In my area, it was very tough to find a frequency that did not pick up any talking, and impossible to find one that also had no talking on the frequency above and below, as the instructions recommend. Nonetheless, it works fine for my purpose. One last thing - it inexplicably turns itself off once in a while, which is annoying. It happens once every several hours of use.

I can't understand why this product is currently on the discontinued list. The product works flawlessly and as a bonus, it transmits much further than any other product of its kind. We are able to broadcast the ipod from the car, while receiving on our camping trailer fm radio/stereo system as well as our portable for up to 100 feet away. I LOVE this product!

having heard a number of warnings about so-so sound, interference, etc I didn't expect much, but for 15 bucks figured it was worth a shot. Mostly I just wanted to catch up on podcasts so quality wasn't the prime driver anyway. I was very pleasantly surprised. Setup was a breeze, and I'd rate sound as very good, even on music. I get zero interference. It just works.

I got this product couple of weeks back and it working as how i wanted it to be. Basically i got it so that i can connect this to my computer and listen to music in my Hi Fi system and it is working great!!.
Only thing noticeable is that i cannot use if across rooms as range of the transmitter is low otherwise it is a great product.
