Product Description: The Tactical line of hearing protectors are designed to give shooters the best of both worlds: Protection from dangerous impulse noise along with the distortion-free amplification of low level sounds such as range commands and conversation.

Save your hearing. These work in any environment but are the best shooting 'ears' you can get. Excellent muffling. You get what you pay for. Solid, durable, well constructed - they will last a lifetime.

I'm a shooter and this really does block out the firing and you are able to hear instructions and conversations clearly.

These are perfect for my father who needs to protect his hearing, but still needs to be able to hear his brothers talking when they go shooting. It's quite amazing the sounds that it picks up, in fact you can probably hear animals rustling around in the woods if you are a hunter. This review is based on the initial experience and does not reflect a long-term ownership review, but so far so good!

Bought the Peltor Tactical Pros to replace a Peltor Tactical 6S electronic muff which I gave to my brother. My primary use for this product is for hearing protection at the gun range. From the moment I first tried on the tactical pros, all I can say is "WOW". The earcups are bigger than those on my tactical 6s. With that being said, everything else is significantly better.
The tactical pro is very comfortable. The gel cups provide a good comfortable seal. I can wear these muffs for hours without the slightest discomfort. Once or twice I have actually left the range and had forgotten to take them off. The muffs are incredibly easy to use. Just hold down the middle button, wait for the beep, and voila... you can hear everything. Repeat the procedure to turn them off, and if you happen to forget they will turn off automatically. A convenience I did not have with my tactical 6s. You don't want to know how many times I've replaced the batteries on those things. The batteries are very easy to change and can be done without having to take off the hearing protection... a real convienience. There is also a port to connect a music device or to use for communications. I havn't used this feature, so I can't really comment on it. The higher NRR rating is what I really like best about these muffs. Protecting your hearing is always a worthwhile investment.
While not as highly rated as some of the ProEars (with a maximum NRR rating of 33), the tactical pro doesn't cost nearly as much either. I've contemplated purchasing a set of ProEars in the past, but just couldn't justify their high cost. Peltor is world renowned for their hearing protection products and is used by just about every police and military unit around the globe. For its balance of price, quality, and features; I haven't found anything better than the Peltor Tactical Pro. I have been very satisfied with this product.

Shipping was prompt and I received it the 4th day. The product quality was evident with one problem. The electronics were faulty. After trying the batteries provided with no results, I inserted a new set.
One thing I want to mention, is that the battery compartment had conflicting information. On the muffs, it showed in which way to insert the batteries, on the compartment door, it showed the opposite way.
I called the customer service number for Peltor and left a message. They called me back within an hour. She had me try a few things, and the results were that the outside of the muff opposite the batteries became very hot to the touch (like in microwave hot). I'm guessing electrical short and I'm glad I didn't have them on my head.
Tech support stated that they would contact their electrical experts, and would get back to me in the morning (it was after 4:00 EST)
The next day (Friday) I never received a call back, and Saturday I packaged them up and returned them. Still waiting for my credit 4 days after shipping them back.
I was recommended to buy Peltor Tactical 7S but I had found this model which had more features that was on sale.
It could be just a bad example of a good company. The overall quality and workmanship of the headset was quite obvious of the quality materials, fit and finish. These were not a cheap knock-off of a better product, they were the better product.
I understand that sometimes you get shipped a defective product. What I was unhappy about was not getting called back or contracted through my email. I was also not happy that the did not offer to ship me another set asap while I sent this defective set back.
Peltor seems to be a well made and quality product, but maybe they are suffering from the bad economy just like the rest of us, and some of it due to my consistent bad luck when dealing with retailers of any type.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but I had to run down to my local gun shop and buy a pair of cheap Radians about half the price. They were half the quality too and could not come close to the Peltor set I almost had.
Had I not been in such a hurry, I would have gave Peltor another chance. The quality and feel of the product was that good.
I went with the Radians Pro-Amp series and are quite happy with my choice
