Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) is a Pretender. As a five-year-old in 1963, he was taken from his home and 'adopted' by The Centre, a mysterious Delaware-based think tank. Why Jarod? Thirty years later, once he realized his efforts were not being used for good, Jarod escaped from the Centre. Psychiatrist and surrogate father Sydney (Carnivàle's velvet-voiced Patrick Bauchau) and sociopathic sidekick and Emma Peel lookalike Miss Parker (ER's Andrea Parker) have been trying to track him down ever since. They’re assisted by the technically proficient, if socially inept Broots (Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Gries). Each and every time, Jarod eludes their grasp, but not before helping some stranger who's been dealt an injustice (just as he once was). Along the way, he hopes to figure out who he is and where he came from.
Each of these 21 episodes moves deftly from Jarod's lonely past to his more satisfying, if precarious present (the human 'science project' was constantly videotaped as a boy, hence the abundance of footage from his childhood). It's a worthy successor to paranoid thrillers like The Fugitive and the unjustly obscure Nowhere Man (from X-Files creator Chris Carter), and the droll performance of Weiss (Jeffrey) adds a dose of levity to a concept usually painted with a darker palette. I never missed this series when it was on tv and I was so EXCITED to find it available on DVD on Amazon. I actually purchased the first set of the 4 season series for my daughter's birthday. She absolutely loved it. I think what I like most is the Genius mind of Jerrod but the innocence of him also. He is always helping other people while at the same time trying to find out who he really is. You find yourself feeling compasion for him. And Michael T. Weiss is HOT! Especially when Jarod gets angry and even with the person who did someone wrong. There is no Violence or strong language which I really appreciate.

The product was as described and received in a timely manner. One of the DVDs was slightly scratched and did not work in a couple places.
Rating: - Pretender lender
Most of the episodes at the beginning have the same predictable narrative but this doesn't take away from the 'genius' of the show. This first season delves into Jarod's past just enough to make you want more.
Good neat packaging and some cool special features are most welcome too.

Couldn't play this in my European Playstation 3, so I was forced to watch this on my computer instead.
The show in it self is brilliant though.

Well other than Ms.Parkers sexy legs this show is great to watch.I started watching these when they were on TVs original run and now that they are on DVD the wife and I usually watch an espisode a night.
We always joke of Jarods mannerisms such as his facial expression when he gets mad or comes up with a sly plan.The show has everything in it from drama to comedy to *cough* Ms. Parkers sexy legs *cough*.
Well let me post this review before the wife sees me writing this and takes away my Pretender DVDs!
