Product Description: Four unwitting heroes cross paths on their journey to the sleepy town of silverado. Little do they know the town has been taken over by a corrupt sheriff and a murderous posse. Its up to them to save the day. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 04/05/2005 Starring: Danny Glover Kevin Costner Run time: 133 minutes Rating: Pg13
Amazon.com essential video: Director Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill) clearly set out to make an old-fashioned Western, but he couldn't help bringing a hip, self-conscious attitude to the proceedings. Silverado thus finds its own funky tone--sometimes rousing, sometimes winking. Four cowpokes converge on a little Western burg called Silverado; they're played by Kevin Kline (a distinctly modern kind of Western hero), Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, and the rowdy young Kevin Costner. Kasdan peppers the somewhat generic action with smart dialogue and a parade of quirky supporting players, including John Cleese as a sheriff who seems to have stepped straight from a Monty Python sketch into an Old West saloon. Bruce Broughton supplies the music, a real throwback to the glory days of thundering Western themes. One thing's for sure: Silverado's a lot more fun than the later Kasdan-Costner Western, Wyatt Earp. --Robert Horton

Very entertaining and fun to watch. Great performance by all the stars. Can be enjoyed by teens and adults. Don't recommend for young children do to the violence.
Rating: - Still great after all these years
I saw it in the theater when it first came out. When they aired it on TV, I taped it with my VCR. We've been watching that tape a zillion times until recently getting the DVD at WalMart. It's still a family favorite. Great lines. Not boring. I guess it's a good movie for those of us that are more choosy and don't watch rated R movies all the time. We are more easily entertained, and our kids aren't allowed to watch all the "junk" nowadays. Oh how I wished for a sequel. Is there any way?...but then again, it would probably be full of Hollywood junk. Never mind! We'll stick with this one!

Loved the film and the return to the classic western. It left me wanting more . . . wish they'd have made a sequel. The talent in the film was too good to have left a second film un-produced.
If you want a film that hits all the touchstones of the classic westerns, Silverado is the film for you.
My score = 75/100

Love westerns. Silverado is a great movie,my wife watched this movie and she does not watch westerns but this one had a good story and plot.We do not care for wide screen movies and do not buy or rent them. Wished this one came in full screen.

Silverado is a good action packed western. You also get a good dose of fun, laughter, adverture, and a good story. The actors mesh very well to give you great entertainment.
You get all this, and a happy ending. If you like westerns, you will enjoy Silverado. Buy it and enjoy it as often as you like. I did, and I do. So can you.
