The foam-stiffened brim floats and is shaped to direct water away from your head when it's gushing (2 3/4" at front, 3 3/4" at back). Comfortable, contoured fit in the windiest weather, the internal Cinch-Band adjustment with elastic comfort dials in the fit. Hook/loop tabs on brim and dome allows sides of brim to be flipped up for greater visibility, ventilation, or style. Removable chin cord with cordlock for security. I love this hat--find myself looking forward to rain. I work in Portland, renowned for precipitation, and this hat performs as described. It is so lightweight that I can strap it tight to protect against wind and my thick wavy hair doesn't mold into "hat-head".The wide brim at the back keeps water from dripping down your neck,and the hat is attractive. You can also fold it to keep in your tote/bag/purse and it retains it's shape. Love it, glad I made this purchase.
