And players needn't worry about the 44-inch backboard wearing dramatically over time thanks to the UV-protected, high-density polyethylene construction. This sturdy plastic material helps the board resist chipping and cracking while protecting the graphics from fading. Also equipped with a black, powder-coated, three-piece pole, the Lifetime system carries a five-year warranty. About Lifetime In the beginning, all the founder of Lifetime Products wanted was a sturdier basketball pole for his backyard. With this in mind, he found and purchased a piece of heavy-duty used pipe, a sheet of plywood, and a basketball rim. The resulting backyard basketball standard functioned perfectly in his backyard. Seeing the potential of his hoop, he placed an ad in the local free classified newspaper and made his first sale. The rest--as they say--is history. He created the American PlayWorld Company in 1973, based out of his garage in Riverdale, Utah. After expanding into several other types of playground equipment, he eventually moved to a bigger location in South Ogden, Utah. Several years later, the company transformed the basketball industry by introducing the Quick Adjust basketball pole, the first complete basketball system you could raise and lower with a broomstick. In 1986, American PlayWorld created Lifetime Products, a separate company intended to concentrate specifically on manufacturing adjustable basketball systems. In the ensuing years, the company has grown from having 18 employees in a 32,000-square-foot space in half a warehouse to more than 1,400 employees and 2.6 million square feet over 23 separate buildings. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - good value, easy assemblyThis hoop is an excellent value for the money. I was able to assemble most of it myself in less than an hour, just needed my teenager to help on the step where you have to put the hoop and backboard on the pole in 1 step. I filled the base with water and it was very stable even when we had 30mph storm. The backboard itself does vibrate a little compared to a fixed board, but for the cost and for casual hooping it serves its purpose well. Rating: - Easy to Install, good valueThe product was easy to install. Needs another person to help with the installation. It is good value for the money Rating: - MISSING PARTS!!!I received this item today and as we were putting it together, we realized that we were missing an entire package of the base hardware. I'm sure that this hoop is great, but because of the inconvenience of having to put it together without specific items required for optimum performance --- I have to give this item 1 star. Mistakes happen: I'm completely aware of that - however, having an eight year old completely disappointed outweighs any understanding and patience for such negligence. An eight year old's birthday only happens once and now what he is going to remember is utter disappointment. It's really a shame. Rating: - Well worth itWe bought this for our six year old. It is perfect. The set up was certainly a two man-job. But, my wife and I were able to do it. My son loves it. Like the other reviews - it is impossible to pour sand into it. Also, I'd recommend that you adjust the height of the rim prior to set up. The directions don't tell you to do this. But, for the money - you can't beat it. Rating: - ok qualityIt's not expensive, I give it that, but the plastic is way too thin where screws tighen, especially the backboard. And the base HAS to have some weight either on it or in it, otherwise it can tip over very easily due to the inherent in-balance. The rolling wheel mechanism should also be secured by bolts and nuts instead of a shaft rolled into grooves. Otherwise it does its job, but never try to hang onto the hoop, the whole thing will break. I didn't bother to fill the base with water or sand and simply placed something heavy on it, but one time it was removed by accident and the stand fell forward. The V-shaped bracket behind the backboard promptly broke free from the bolt/nut secured to that thin plastic wall of the backboard. My mistake, but really wish it is built with higher grade material, or reinforce the nut area better or simply add thickness around that area. |
