When pistol-packing, chain-smoking granny Mabel 'Madea' Simmons (Tyler Perry) invites her family over for the weekend, chaos is sure to follow. First they gather for her sister Irene's funeral and then for the wedding of her granddaughter, Lisa (Sonya Evans). Naturally, nothing goes as planned. The rest of her extended family include daughters Cora (Tamela J. Mann) and Vickie (Pebbles Johnson), granddaughters Jackie (D'Atra Hicks) and Tina (Zakiya Williams), and irrepressible neighbor Mr. Brown (David Mann). The urban inspirational comedy, which was followed by popular spin-off Meet the Browns, takes place between the two events as family members attempt to heal their differences through quips, scriptures, and gospel-oriented numbers. Written, produced, and directed by Perry (who co-wrote the music and lyrics), Madea's Family Reunion was filmed in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana in February 2002. Rating:  - Madea does it again!
She does it again! She entertains you, make you laugh, but always there that message that comes across so strongly. In this film, Madea deals with family issues, such as abuse, drug addiction and love of family. The movie was good, but this play comes across more strongly. . . Only my opinion.

Beware this is not the movie with Blair Underwood and that super fine babe from T. P.'s show.

Tyler Perry is the best! Another great play, wish they would put more stuff like this in theatre's and on tv.

Tyler Perry has created a masterpiece when it comes to Madea! She is just wonderful. Down to earth, with loads of common sense and decency - something our society severely lacks anymore. It was a pleasant surprise to watch this movie. It is my favorite one!

Family can sometimes be a 'pain', but with love and understanding - family will be there for you (and even if your not 'blood' you can be adopted into a good family).
