Rating: - For something different
I had got this DVD for my boyfriend as a gift and I personally had never seen this show. When we started watching it I found it to be interesting. It's about a guy who was raised with his brother by a father who cannot maintain relationships with woman very well. The main character is Christopher Titus who does these narrations between certain scenes to explain what is going on. He has a girlfriend that puts up with him and stays with him through good times and bad times. He has a business that he runs with his friend and his younger brother. His younger brother has a few screws lose but he is pretty funny. I loved the show after I watched the first episode. I only wish it was still on FOX now.
Rating: - AWSOME
All I have to say is if you think his stand up is funny then you will love this.
Rating: - excellent show- - - fresh, funny, realistic
if you enjoy comedy clubs and comedians in general, then you're sure to enjoy this show. Titus manages to turn his real-life family tragedies into comedic material in this t.v. series. I guarantee you, you have never been exposed to this kind of comedy before (or since). Like many reviewers have pointed out, this is truly 'dark comedy'.....if the 'Cosby Show' is at one end of the spectrum, then 'Titus' is at the other end. What makes the show effective, (and funny) is how many viewers can relate to the trials that Titus goes through, in regard to family dysfunction. Also enjoy season 3 on dvd as well. A comedy classic.
Rating: - CLASSIC REAL-LIFE COMEDY CUT WAY TO SHORT.
'Titus' is a sitcom that aired on Fox from 2000-2002 and is based on comedian/actor Christopher Titus's stand-up routine, which in turn is loosely based on his life. 'Titus' was originally a mid-season replacement and quickly got rave reviews for it's uncompromising humor, wich eventually led to an Emmy nomination. It ran for 54 episodes over 3 seasons.
C.Titus plays himself and also stars Stacey Keach as his beer drinking, womanizing, 5-time divorced disfunctional father, Zack Ward(Titus's brother Dave), Cynthia Watros(Titus's girlfriend Erin, based loosely on his now ex-wife Erin Carden), and David Shatraw(Tommy). His schizophrenic mother was played by three different actresses before the character committed suicide(sadly based on all to real events).
'Titus' focuses on C.Titus's dysfuctional upbringing with his unique comedic twist. The show dealt with VERY controvercial issues such as alcoholism, drug-addiction, death, suicide, domestic violence, mental illness, and just about every other issue you can think of(including an episode satyrizing terrorism that never aired). One of the unique 'hooks' of the show is that it breaks the '4th wall' with cuts of Titus sitting in a dark room adressing the audiance directly at random about the subject matter. Although the show gained a huge following very quickly, the executives at Fox were consistantly at odds with the show's 'no limits' format, and this led to censorship issues. After the 3rd season, Fox tried to exercise 'creative control' ... Read More
Rating: - Get a big smile
If you like dark humor you have to see this, Titus is a genius in the way he shows us his disfunctional family.
