This was exactly what I was looking for - a great, sturdy water bottle that keeps the bed warm throughout the night! And don't worry about the rubber-y smell, that goes away in just a couple of days. It helps if you rinse it in water for a bit, but overall the odor really doesn't last long. Highly recommend!

The hot water bottles arrived quickly. What we liked the best about them was the threading for screw in top. ON others we had you could never be sure if they were securely in. These are metal and easy to secure. Good size too.

I am SO pleased with this water bottle that, every time I fill it up (twice a day or more) I think of coming back here to write a review. Finally, I did so, and here it is:
If you buy from the company I did, HealthEGoods, you will not be disappointed at all in the service or delivery. By far, their shipping costs were lower, which was a huge deciding factor, for me. It seemed rediculous to buy a four dollar bottle and spend upwards of ten on shipping! I got this wonderfully built, excellently designed hot water bottle delivered to my house for the grand total of $8.85 (includes shipping) and one week before HealthEGoods estimated time of arrival.
My husband wanted a water bottle as well so we went to Walgreen's and spent $12.95 on his, plus tax. The Walgreen's bottle is smaller, thinner, not built as well [mine has raised ridges on one side to better directly disperse heat on contact], has only one hole by which to hang it [mine has a hole on each end] and mine also has a much sturdier fastener/cork than the Walgreen's one. Mine has a thick rubber stopper hole reinforced with metal; the cork itself is not cheap plastic and has a rubber O-ring. The Walgreen's one might sport a little wider neck but the cork is cheap plastic, the threads are wider and thicker [doomed to leak eventually] and flimsily made. Mine holds more water, mine keeps water hot longer, and it does NOT smell. It is made of rubber as compared to Walgreen's latex, but only if you have issues with such things [allergies] should that ever become a deciding factor. I opened the package outdoors because I read the horror stories here about this bottle smelling so bad. It does not "reek" of anything, certainly not gasoline, (!!!) and the slight rubber odor (fresh out of the package) was not offensive to me at all. I consider myself a VERY CAREFUL online shopper. I'm one of those people that has to touch everything in a store before I even think of buying it. I am SO pleased with this bottle, however, so trust me when I say, you will NOT regret this purchase!

Having grown up in Germany where bedrooms are/were not really heated I've always been used to using a hot water bootle in the winter. It's unfortunate these aren't more widely used as they keep you comfortable at much lower temperatures at night. As such, I would even say this is a "green" product.
Anyway, this was the first hot wate bottle we bought in the States, and the one big downfall is that the fill hole is so small that it takes quite a while to fill up and you risk scalding your hands. With a family of five, this can become quite arduous...
Like the other reviewers said, it does also smell very rubbery, but I think so do all these products. Hey, it's made from natural rubber!
Haven't found a good alternative here, so we just bought a few with nice large fill holes during a visit to Germany.

The smell of the rubber is horrible. I had to throw both of the bottles (one still in box) away because the petroleum smell was so toxic. I tried wrapping it in a large bath towel and everything that it came in contact with smelled of the toxic smell. I had to wash everything. Would not recommend this product.
