The 76Cx's 2.6-inch, 256-color TFT color display is designed to present mapping and trip information clearly and accurately in any lighting conditions. Plus, the case is lightweight, rugged, and water resistant to IEC 60529 IPX7 standards (can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes). Marine users will also like the fact that the 76Cx floats. When using two AA alkaline batteries, you'll get up to 30 hours of battery life from the unit. Another key feature of the 76Cx is the 10,000 point automatic track log; 20 saved tracks (500 points each) let you retrace your path in both directions. Meanwhile, there's a large numbers option for easy viewing, as well as a dual-position display mode. The unit also includes built-in celestial tables for best times to fish and hunt, as well as sun and moon calculations. You also get audible alarms for anchor drag, arrival, off-course, proximity waypoint, and clock. The 76Cx's trip computer provides odometer, stopped time, moving average, overall average, total time, max speed, and more. Meanwhile, a fast processor allows the 60Cx to provide quick auto-routing, turn-by-turn directions, and audio alerts when you use the optional MapSource software, which can be stored on the unit's included 128 MB microSD card. Downloading information is quick with the USB or serial port interfaces. Using the dedicated serial port, the 76Cx can share navigation instructions with repeaters, plotters, and autopilots. If you like the features of the 76Cx but require an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter, check out the Garmin GPSMap 76CSx. What's in the Box 76Cx unit, 128 MB microSD card, belt clip, USB interface cable, MapSource Trip and Waypoint Manager CD, lanyard, owners manual, and quick-start guide. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - garmin GPSvery good GPS. loaded with features. Great for small fishermen or boat owners. nice screen, well lighted. everything is good about this. Rating: - Great Fishing ToolThis unit was an upgrade from my old Garmin 72. Bought at a great price from Amazon. It picks up signals much better than the 72, even indoors. Purchased this unit for the mapping capability and I was well aware the sd chips need to be purchased seperatly. I have used the unit with the 2009 Lakemaster chip for Wisconsin lakes and have been very pleased. I fish a flowage with alot of dangers that lie beneath. This would be a must for someone never on that body of water. Much cheaper than a new outboard lower unit. Rating: - ok, but...An okay and good to handle device for navigating while sailing. Not much to critizize, then. Only the cource projection in the map screen is gone for some reason (the 76 Map had it.) Rating: - No Produce Support - No Mac Computer SupportUnless you're a big fan of being put on hold for hours at a time I would look for a different GPS from another company. Garmin doesn't care the slightest for their customers once they have their money. Garmin's user manuals, on-line help and phone support are infuriating. Rating: - Very Good, feature rich unitI've been running the 76cx on my Seadoo for about a month now. Seadoo makes a glove box cover that allows you to snap a 76 series right in, so it's always in front of me. I'm very happy with the screen, no matter how or where I'm riding I can always read it without much of an issue. The fact that the unit floats has already saved me from losing it on a couple of occasions. The software is very good, and easy to use. I can plug the unit in after a day of riding and import my tracks from where i've been. I have 2 small issues with the unit. First is that the maps that come with it aren't accurate at all. Most of where I ride is considered to be land by the maps. I'm hoping to get the bluechart maps soon, but they cost as much as the unit did, so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger before trying a unit that includes them. My second issue is that you can't pull tide info into the information page. I ride in a lot of tidal areas, and it would be helpful to see when high/low tide are so I can know to enter/avoid some places. It's not terribly hard to get tidal information from the main menu, but It would save me some time to have it right on the information page. Overall the 76cx is a spectacular unit, and I would reccomend it for anyone who has a PWC. It's rugged, compact, and easy to use. |
