Whether you need to cut firewood, build a shelter, or slice through a seat belt, the LMF II survival knife has you covered. It was designed to adapt to a wide variety of situations, so you'll never have to worry whether you have the right knife. Unique Buttcap Can Pierce Glass In addition to the blade end of the knife, Gerber also gave the LMF II a unique, pointed buttcap that is made of stainless steel. This heavy end can be used to pierce glass in the event you need to egress from a helicopter or other vehicle. The buttcap features a smart design that is physically separated from the tang in order to offer shock absorption when it's used as a hammer and also to prevent electrical shock. Smart, Versatile, Comfortable Design The LMF II features an overmolded handle, which helps prevent hand blisters and provides a secure grip. It is also designed with lashing holes, allowing it to be converted into a spear and extending its usability. The black color keeps you inconspicuous while you are out on night-time missions. Sheath Included with Built-In Sharpener A low-profile sheath is included and it features a built-in carbide sharpener. The stainless steel blade can withstand a ton of abuse, but if it ever gets damaged or needs sharpening, you won't be stuck out in the open with a dull knife. The sheath facilitates movement and attaches to a belt or MOLLE vest. Gerber's History of Ingenuity Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular, Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939. For more than half a century, Gerber Legendary Blades has been helping people fend for themselves. Gerber designs popular, dependable tools and knives along with other outdoor gear that helps users accomplish whatever tasks they may be faced with, promoting the lost art of self-reliance. What's in the Box Gerber 22-01629 LMF II Black Infantry Knife, sheath Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - sharp! This knife is sharper than s%*!. I almost whacked my finger off with it. Only could be better if it weren't stainless steel Rating: - Crazy-Insane KnifeFirst off. My dad was the one who opened the box. The first thing he asked me was how much? He figured it was around 200 for the knife. The box was a little dented when I got it,and it appeared to be handled a bit, but maybe that is just a flaw in the coating. The blade had a few very very minor dings that were taken out after sharpening it. It has a but if a rubbery odor that goes away with time. other than that all the stuff was fine. Comes with the sheath, and two legs straps ( I was worried because the details did not say that it came with any) The blade was pretty sharp out of box, I ran it through the sheath sharpener and it was razor sharp. The nylon straps have a rubber stitch in them to prevent slipping of the straps. It has so many ways you can wear it its unreal. I found I think four or five ways you can carry it. Its is really lite, a lot lighter than i expected it to be. Really sturdy, the glass breaker works like a dream. Punched out my old tv set glass in two fairly strong hits. The only problems i can find is getting used to ripping the knife out of its sheath, and the two straps that hold the butt of the knife in, are very very tight. The flame retardant works pretty well two, it took forever for me to even get a little bit of flame on the nylon. All in all. The knife is probably one of the best investments you can make. Even if you want to semi-protect your house, or go hiking in the woods for a few days. Even just to have something to play with. I'd pick this knife over anything. SO far so good. Rating: - excellent hunting/survival knifebuy this knife. seriously. this is a tough looking solid feeling knife. if u are into outdoor activities and might have use/s for a knife, this is the one for you. package just came and the first thing that strikes you is the heft of the knife minus the sheath and the leg straps. feels like you can cut down a small tree with this thing. blade was so sharp it shaved hairs off my arm. no kidding. sheath and straps are of excellent quality. It seems GERBER thought of every which way u can wear this knife. i will have this one sent to Brazil and get tested out and update. Rating: - A great wilderness knife for the price pointI own a lot of knives from custom made like Randall and Chris Reeve down to the $25 "survival" knife I bought my son.For the price this knife can't be beat as an all purpose survival/hunting/tactical knife. The knife design is well thought out and includes such options as the ability to be a hammer, wedge, saw, spear, glass punch and of course knife. The sheath is also well designed and thoughtfully includes a sharpener and multi carry options including ankle and MOLLE/ALICE options. The steel could be a bit better but is still a good steel that will take and keep an edge especially at this price. And the knife has enough heft to do hard work without so much as it becomes a weight factor. All in all if your budget concious I would say this is the best or one of the best deals around in a hard working well thought out cutting system. Rating: - survival in the wildernessThis knife has to be one of the best survival knives ever made. I take part in real life survival scenarios in the woods and let me tell you, this knife is up to the task. I have owned a few other "survival knives", but this is, without a doubt, the best. Whether splitting logs for firewood, shedding cedar bark for kindling, attaching it to a stick to make a spear, among other applications, this knife stands up to the task and is always ready for more. |
