I ordered this humidifier because I'd read some good reviews, and because it was so darned cute. Also, was replacing another humidifier that required filters, and wanted to go filter-less...didn't mind using distilled water for this.
I'd read that this one emitted a plastic smell at first, but the reviewer stated that the smell went away in a day or so. Hence, I ran it in the living room first, to try to get rid of some of that smell before putting it in my 11 month-old-daughter's room. After a few hours, one of my eyes began burning! I thought it may have been a reaction to the humidifier, which did emit a plastic smell, but I could only smell it up close. So I wasn't sure. The next night, I put it in my baby's room, and within 10 minutes or so, my throat and sinus passages felt constricted and tight, could not breathe well, felt head-achy, my eyes were stinging (although not burning like the night before), and my daughter awoke, crying. I turned it off, and in less that 5 minutes, all my negative symptoms went away, and my baby was back asleep. I aired out the room (which we keep closed to keep the cats out) too. I feel like it was having to breathe in the plastic particles that had us strained, and that continuing to use this humidifier would have negative consequences on my daughter's health. We don't have any serious sensitivity to smells/allergies, or breathing problems, so I was surprised.
It is cute, and was extremely quiet (unlike our other humidifier), but needless to say, I was extremely disappointed, and will definitely be returning this ASAP. Will be ordering filters for the old one...never had those kinds of problems with that one (The First Years American Red Cross). I haven't read all the reviews on this one, but I can't imagine that this hasn't happened to anyone else? Would give zero stars if possible.

The product does what it should and it looks cute doing it. I gave it four stars instead of five for two reasons. First, there didn't seem to be any kind of user manual in the box. The could be a one-time experience, but it was our experience, nonetheless. The second reason was that it doesn't run well if you run it for the full tank of water. The reservoir would seem to overflow and leave us with water on the bedside table. The trick, we found, was to turn it off when we got up and leave it off for a while, turning it back on when returning from work.

The first date of use, the humidity leaked water from the bottom of the unit and flooded my carpet, the second day the Hello Misss Kitty humidifier burnt up.

We love our Hello Kitty humidifier. It works great and the night light is an added bonus. I love that its quiet and easy to fill. I like it so much that I am thinking of tossing my sons (he doesnt have this brand ..he has a brand called Reli-on that doesnt seem to work as nice) ..cant decide on the penguin or frog..or ..maybe the Thomas..decisions!

I've had my Hello Kitty humidifer for over a year. Never had one problem with her. I use her for sinus and throat problems at night. Only complaint is the LED on light is kind of bright but I taped a piece of paper over it, so I'm good to go now. I found that putting my tap water (well water) in the humidifer is not a good idea. I buy distilled water from the grocery store and that keeps down the lime and rust problems.
I only wish I had kept the instructions...I'm wonderfing if you can use vapor rub in it. Don't want to chance it and ruin my humidifier.
