Product Description: Sony Pictures Underworld: Evolution (Blu-Ray) DVD Kate Beckinsale is back as vampire heroine Selene in the highly anticipated sequel to 'Underworld.' 'UnderworldEvolution' continues the saga of war between the aristocratic Death Dealers and the barbaric Lycans(werewolves). The film traces the beginnings of the ancient feud between the two tribes as Selene (Kate Beckinsale), the vampire heroine, and her love Michael (Scott Speedman), the lycan hybrid, try to unlock the secrets of their bloodlines. The tale of action, intrigue and forbidden love takes them into the battle to end all wars as the immortalsmust finally face their retribution.
Amazon.com: Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld. Looking stunning as ever in her black leather battle gear, Kate Beckinsale is every goth guy's fantasy as Selene, the vampire 'death dealer' who's now fighting to stop the release of the original 'Lycan' werewolf, William (Brian Steele) from the prison that's held him for centuries. As we learn from the film's action-packed prologue, William and his brother Marcus (Tony Curran) began the bloodline of vampires and werewolves, and after witnessing centuries of warfare between them, their immortal father Corvinus (Derek Jacobi) now seeks Selene and the human vampire/lycan hybrid Michael (Scott Speedman) to put an end to the war perpetuated by Victor (Bill Nighy), the vampire warrior whose betrayal of Selene turns Underworld: Evolution into an epic tale of familial revenge. This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. If you're an established fan, this is a must-see movie; if not, well... at least it's better than Van Helsing! --Jeff Shannon

Rating: - Kind of over the top but enjoyable.
Kind of over the top in a few places but otherwise a good movie and Kate as always look good ;)
Rating: - Very Entertaining, Comic-Book Genre Movie
I did not see Underworld until late 2008 because I had suspected that it was a vampire movie rip-off. When I finally did see it, I was pleasantly surprised and immediately purchased Evolution which I found to be equally entertaining. It is a reasonably good script with good acting and technical work and some interesting color effects.
Rating: - Underworld 2
Okay for a Sequel....Could have been better. The first movie was so good, I found the wait for the 2nd a little disappointing....
Rating: - Great Sequel
Underworld- Evolution
If you are a fan of classic Werewolf and Vampire movies, you need to be open minded coming into this movie. Not all werewolves and vampires need to have the same characteristics. This is a great movie in its own right. The movie is an action flick, not a horror movie. I will say that watching the original Underworld would probably help you understand this movie more. They give you a good back story in the beginning, but I didn't feel like it was enough.
Selene is a Vampire that is being hunted down. In the previous movie she killed their Vampire lord, Victor. Victor had started the war with the werewolves, known as Lycans in this movie. Selene learned the truth and saved a man named Micheal from sure death. Micheal is the only hybrid of both Lycans and Vampires. Victor wanted no leaps like that and wanted to kill Micheal. Now, Victor has been killed and the search is on for his killer.
Selene must now awaken Markus, another vampire elder, to see the treason of Victor and help her. Markus, however, is already awaken. Blood of a Lycans dripped into his tomb and he is now a Hybrid himself. He is one of the most powerful beings in the world. Markus has his own agenda in finding his brother, William. William is the first werewolf, much like Markus is the original vampire. William was hidden away in a tomb somewhere that Markus could never find. William was out of control and killing everything.
Selene, as it turns out, is the only person ... Read More
