Amazon.com:
Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld. Looking stunning as ever in her black leather battle gear, Kate Beckinsale is every goth guy's fantasy as Selene, the vampire 'death dealer' who's now fighting to stop the release of the original 'Lycan' werewolf, William (Brian Steele) from the prison that's held him for centuries. As we learn from the film's action-packed prologue, William and his brother Marcus (Tony Curran) began the bloodline of vampires and werewolves, and after witnessing centuries of warfare between them, their immortal father Corvinus (Derek Jacobi) now seeks Selene and the human vampire/lycan hybrid Michael (Scott Speedman) to put an end to the war perpetuated by Victor (Bill Nighy), the vampire warrior whose betrayal of Selene turns Underworld: Evolution into an epic tale of familial revenge. This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. If you're an established fan, this is a must-see movie; if not, well... at least it's better than Van Helsing! --Jeff Shannon

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great movie
For all the underworld fans out there...this is a great movie to watch and have for your own. I loved this movie and I'd recommend it very highly. It has great special effects.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Action. Not much suspense.
The action is quick, and vicious. It's more like an action than a horror film. And it's a good action movie. There's not much suspense and no scary moment as in Blade II. Kate Beckinsale looks sexy in her black leather suite.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great followup
This was a great follow up to Under World with all the back history. It just leaves us wondering what they will do in the next movie or if they will do a next movie.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fantasy Viewers Will Be Pleased
One man had two sons. One son, bitten by a bat, became the first vampire, another son, bitten by a wolf, became the first werewolf (lycan). Generations later, there are many vampires and werewolves. There is also a war between the two. Eventually the son of the werewolf line is captured and locked away till present time. The vampire son arises, mighty and with wings and having the blood of a lycans and thus making him a hybrid. He wants to free his brother, but first he must find Selene (Kate Bekinsale) who is the only living vampire with the memory of where the first Vampire's brother is hiding.... If this sounds all confusing, this is because it is. But, honestly, this is why this film is so much fun, because its mythos is distinct and developed.

I believe most Fantasy lovers will enjoy this film. There are huge werewolves, disgusting vampires, beautiful vampire of both sexes (I don't want to write to just guys here) and lots of gross gore. I can't imagine where this film series will go if it shoots for this trilogy craze in Hollywood, though I imagine a prequel seems to make the most sense.

Bottom Line: The film is not something you have got to see, however for a break from your usual schedule, or if you just need a little break and want to be entertained, I am certain you will be with this film.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this movie
I am a big fan of Vampire movies and this is in the top tier (as is the first in the series).

The photography and acting are great. Kate Beckinsale never looked better. Plot is pretty good and builds on the first movie. In fact,I think someone ought to see #1 before watching this. Shame they couldn't keep the same male lead.

There is a bit of nudity and sexuality that was put there just to make sure it got an R rating for sex--it draws a certain crowd--that I wish weren't there, nevertheless I'll round the rating up to a 5.
