Description:
Fox's Breakout Hit of the 2005-2006 Season!

Most men would do anything to get out of Fox River Penitentiary, but Michael Scofield will do anything to get in. His brother Lincoln has been sentenced to die for a crime he did not commit, and the only way to save him is from the inside out. Armed with prison blueprints and an impossibly intricate escape plan, Michael gets himself incarcerated, and the race against time is on. Now, he'll need all of the cunning, daring, and luck he can muster…along with the assistance of some of the prison's most vile and dangerous felons.

Amazon.com:
Season one of Prison Break is great television. Here's the set-up. Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is framed and wrongfully convicted for assassinating the Vice President's brother. Lincoln's brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), who just happens to have designed Illinois' Fox River Penitentiary where Lincoln is on death row, hatches an elaborate escape plan. Michael's plan involves getting himself incarcerated in Fox River and smuggling the prison's blueprints by having them hidden in tattoos that cover his entire torso. Once inside, Michael must form alliances with a rogue's gallery of felons with their own sometimes unsavory motives. Meanwhile, on the outside, Lincoln's lawyer and one-time girlfriend Veronica Donovan (Robin Tunney), pursued by Secret Service agents, attempts to unravel the conspiracy that sent her man to the slammer.

Prison Break is anchored by tight, suspenseful writing clearly relished by the largely little-known cast. Standouts include Robert Knepper as the murderer/pedophile T-Bag, who somehow makes such a despicable character likeable. Stacey Keach of Mike Hammer fame plays the warden-with-a-heart-of-gold, who clashes with Captain Brad Bellick (Wade Williams) over whether to rehabilitate the inmates or makes their lives more miserable. Peter Stormare, famous for his skills with a wood chipper in Fargo, turns in a deliciously menacing performance as mob boss John Abruzzi, while Amaury Nolasco's winsome Fernando Sucre shares a cell and secrets with Miller's Scofield. Watching the show one gets a sense that this is the opening salvo of Wentworth Miller's career, which will doubtless include roles as assassins, detectives, super heroes, and perhaps the champion of staring contests. Midway through the season it's explained that Scofield is a genius with an heightened sensitivity to other peoples' suffering, which sums up what makes the show so great--the mind-bendingly intricate plot is a framework for moments when people make others suffer and cope with the burden of their own suffering.

The six-disc set includes 22 addictive episodes, audio commentary on selected episodes, three featurettes, and alternate and deleted scenes. As with most TV shows on DVD, the 'previously on Prison Break' intros can get tiresome, but that's what the fast forward button is for. --Ryan Boudinot

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing Show. Period.
It's summer break, so I'm reviewing obscure pieces of entertainment scattered about my room. Prison Break is amazing. I'm in season 2 and I can't stop watching. Because we're dealing with prisoners, it's very hard to tell who's good, who's bad, and especially who's going to die. It's basically bad guy vs. bad guy, seeing that the police and FBI are equally as evil as the convicts...so, basically, you're constantly being surprised by twists and turns.

It's very well acted. Wentworth Miller plays an excellent character for the part of a desperate little brother trying to get his big brother off 'death row' for a crime he didn't even commit: The cold blooded murder of the Vice President's brother. Even though we're dealing with such plots as cleche as busting out of frigging a prison with the usual game of "cops and robbers," the events and writing are still EXTREMELY tense and surprising...creating numerous situations involving the utter terror having a friend or loved one suddenly pulling a gun or knife on a main character to 'off' them.

As a warning to anyone interested in checking out the series; having not seen season 3 of this show yet, I strongly reccommend you do not drop the bones on this set unless you are planning to purchase or download season 2. Season one is very exciting by itself as a psychological thriller, but season 2 carries the seeds of the show's success in character development, love, murder and betrayal. It's right up there with "24" and "Lost" ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant
Just Superb.
The Most Intense Show ever.
Owning it on DVD is crucial because Commercials and having to wait for the next episode is unimagimable in this nail-biting episodic.
One of the best seasons of a television series EVER!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely great!! it is so addictive!!
You won't be disapponted, great plot, great action, great acting. Superb suspense. This show is So addictive!!!.. Definetely a must see for good television series fans. I was resilient to watch it because of the jail story, thought it was going to be depressive...how mistaken I was, now I can't get enough... Please hurry with the release of season 4!!!! ...it's so hard to stop watching one episode after another, it makes your heart beat so fast!! it is so intriguing and exciting. But you must watch every episode from episode 1 ... keep in mind that all episodes are important.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - GOOD, or BAD?
This has to be the best show I have ever watched in my entire life. Reading peoples 1 and 2 star reviews made me realize how critical people have to be. I think if your looking for a show that can keep your attention and keep you guessing, this is where you want to begin. Season 1 of Prison Break was FANTASTIC!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great New Show That Drags At Times
This is a great new series with exciting twists and turns, a great plot, some mind-blowing episodes, and the highlight, truly fabulous characters played by even better actors! This show prides itself on it's excellence in acting. People like Peter Stormare ("John Abruzzi") and Robert Knepper ("T-Bag") are pure genius here. All their scenes together, in my opinion, are the best. However, the overall story of Michael Scofield breaking his brother, Lincoln Burrows, out of jail is a bit ridiculous (but that's okay!) and gets a bit old sometimes. Some scenes where the PI group is just digging gets a tad boring, but not overly. The standout episodes in this collection are:

1.06 "Riots, Drills, and the Devil" (Part 1) - It's so intense and suspenseful. Just a really fun and exciting episode that makes you love the series.

1.14 "The Rat" - It's execution time and this is where the Lincoln/Michael/Veronica/LJ story really shines. These characters are the main ones but never get as much love as the other prisoners, but they really are awesome here.

1.16 "Brother's Keeper" - Why did all these people go to jail? Well, you find out...NOW.

1.21 "Go" - It's the episode that we've been waiting for all season long and it does not disappoint with suspense, twists, and great character moments! (as well as a death!)

1.22 "Flight" - The season finale showcases Veronica finally uncovering a huge piece of the puzzle for The Company and the Fox River 8 on the run ... Read More
