Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great AmFm portable
I enjoy 2 hour walks; year round. The DT-180 is comfortably sized and easy to use while walking. It is light weight and small enough to fit in any pocket. The LED visuals are easy to read. It is a digitally tuned AM/FM pocket radio with 3 bands (2 FM, 1 AM) and 15 station presets. I purchased it because of the presets as I was tired of losing my dialed in stations on my Radio Shack Grundig analog AM/FM. I live in NW Iowa and don't have a lot of stations to draw from. I filled the 15 presets easily however and changing the presets is easy. I saw some radios with over 100 presets and didn't think I needed to keep track of that many stations even if they were all worth listening to. The ear buds wire is the FM antenna and allows me to get the major stations in NW Iowa; some over 100 miles away. When you unplug the ear buds wire the radio turns off within 10 seconds to conserve the battery. The battery is a AAA size and is said to last a long time; I've not had the radio a long time, but so far so good. The operation of the radio is intuitive. Two unexpected features: a lock on the back which prevents any button from changing the settings (I missed this during my research)and a bass button which nicely enhances FM music (I didn't understand what this was). The radio has more than adequate volume control and a 90 minute auto shut off, which can be disabled; although I've never had to disable it due to various interactions during my walks which restarts the timer when the radio is cycled off and back on. The radio also has a stereo / mono button to help tune in weak FM stations and scan tuning by holding the tuning control buttons down for half a second. I plan on purchasing better ear buds as traffic noise and heavy wind forces me to increase the volume. All in all this was a good buy. I've enjoyed using this radio. I will buy this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and I plan on buying a second radio in case I lose or break (unintentionally) the first one.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - wrong product shipped
I was disappointed when I received my radio and it was the wrong item. I ordered what I thought was going to be the Sangean AM/FM/TV Band Radio, which is what the description read. It did not have the description which is listed with the image on this review. However, I was shipped the AM/FM Radio minus the TV Band. I returned it and was happy with my decision after reading other reviews which stated that the TV Band no longer worked due to the Analog change over.I thought since this was a digital radio that the TV channels would work, that is why I wanted to purchase it. Also, when you use the customer service option of putting in your phone number and they call you back, this is very frustrating as you are connected to someone in India who has some kind of device on the phone to try to disguise their accent, not very well I might add. These people are of no help at all as they do not understand anything you are asking about. The man on the phone just kept reading what my packing slip said over & over no matter what I asked him. He had no idea how to help me. I finally hung up and called the 1-866 customer service number and got someone in the U.S. that was friendly and very helpful. Answered all my questions and helped with my return procedures.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Bunk lock feature.
The lock feature broke after a year of occasional use and it does not come with a clip. Good reception though!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Ok for 10 mins then static
Just received the Sangean 3/21/09. Worked fine out of box for 10 mins and then abruptly malfunctioned, producing only static on all bands and stations. Tried various headphones to no avail. Appears to have been a short of some kind. Too bad because it looked and sounded promising. Well designed and the deep base and stereo functions worked as advertised. Sound was good with the supplied headphones. While there was no opportunity for thorough testing, it appeared to be somewhat fragile. Not sure it would have held up to regular transport in a gym bag. Maybe it was just a lemon. Trying a Sony walkman and if that comes up short may give another Sangean model a try, and would lean toward an older version with slightly more heft.
