I left a similar review for the AOS7135.
I became wary of inhaling this white dust so I switched to distilled water but it was too much of a hassle to buy 10-14 jugs each week for each humidifier.
I think this will work well for you if your water has low mineral content or if you don't mind buying a lot of distilled water regularly.
The humidistat is rather useless. Mine typically remains at 25% even though 3 other external monitors report 38-42%. So the AOS7135 never shuts off and over-humidifies my room. You might be better off with the less expensive AOS7135 (if you are ok with the looks) or the AOS7145 (if you don't need the heating option).
I returned the unit and purchased the Vornado Evaporative humidifier instead. I use it with the Protec cartridge and make sure to clean it well every week to reduce bacteria build up in the wicks. So far so good.

Have used many types before: Cool, warm mist & ultrasonic units. I last owned a $100 Holmes warm mist, which failed & melted in a plastic smokey mess during sleep one night (thank god for smoke detector). My friend recomended this Swiss unit. It was more expensive, however totally worth it! I have owned this unit for over 3 yrs so far. It's easy to maintain, consistant & reliable. Uses very little electricity in both "cool" & "warm" mist modes. It can evaporate 7 gal/day in "high/warm" mode, 3-1/2 gal/day in "med/cool" mode.

We've gone through three different versions of this humidifier at this point via returns.
It's quiet when you first get it, but the fan progressively gets louder and louder. I'm not a light sleeper, but it was even bothering me before the latest return. My husband is a light sleeper and is having a lot of trouble with it.
The humidity gauge doesn't seem to work and appears to operate randomly.
The best I can say for it is that it does emit lots of mist. I'm going to try a different humidifier next time, and really can't recommend this one. Too bad.

Two seasons ago I bought 3 (THREE) of these units for our apartment. One for our living room/kitchen area and one for each of our two bedrooms. I maintained them diligently - which is a LOT of work. Within two humdifying seasons all three units were broken - they no longer produced mist of any kind. I tried to contact Air-O-Swiss on many occassions to rectify this problem and their customer service was abysmal. They made a few suggestions, none of which worked. In the end I was told an Air-O-Swiss representative would contact me in an effort to rectify these problems and the whole situation. Six months later I am still waiting for that call. These units were expensive, high maintenance ( and also very expensive for cleaners, filters and ionic sticks) and in the end were just a huge disappointment. Save your money and go for another cheaper brand and save yourself the aggravation. I will never buy another Air-O-Swiss unit, neither should you ! Also, my neighbor just informed me her exact same model is now leaking after just one season. Avoid this expensive and poorly designed product.

We've had this model for a couple of years now. It does produce a good amount of mist and raises the humidity level. We haven't had a problem with white dust but we have the same problem as some other reviewers: it leaks. It seems to happen when it needs to be filled and is just sitting there. And I agree--the tank is cumbersome and heavy. I'm not so sure I'd really recommend this but it seems to be hard to find a good humidifier so I guess we'll stick with this for now.
