A Firm Believer for 17 years, I have worked out with Tracie Long--a former Firm instructor/workout lead/choreographer--on numerous occasions and she has never been better than she is in this workout...nor have I ever seen her look better (her body is amazing!). And the workout...phenomenal! It works your core, balance, and agility, the medicine balls adds intensity to the cardio, and the glute work serves up a burn like you won't believe!
Tracie, as always, is at once remote/reserved and engaging. Though a former cheerleader, she WILL NOT cheer you on through the workout. Though she may seem unaffected by the routines/somewhat mechanical for the better part of the workout, there are definitely times when it is clear that she is feeling the burn just as you are. Her cueing: flawless. Flawless. She is a no-nonsense, athletically built woman who does not play and that, in turn, encourages me to give it all that I've got.
The workout is, I would say, equal parts cardio (90% done with the ball) and intense/unique glute work. It's a sweatfest! I began sweating during the warmup and the sweat kept coming until the very end! As one reviewer has outlined the workout in detail, I will only add that ANYONE who works out regularly to DVDs at home should do this workout...even if only to find out how rigorous a non-dumbbell/medicine ball workout can be.

Rating: - WOW...this will kick your butt!!
If you're a beginner, don't even think about starting with this DVD. For intermediate/advanced exercisers, this DVD is a perfect challenge. You will need a yoga mat, a medicine ball, and some sort of long stick (she uses a golf club handle in the DVD). I plan on buying a thick, 4 foot wooden dowel the next time I'm at Home Depot to use during this workout. She also uses a rag (on hardwood floors, or a paper plate on carpet) for sliding foot movements. I only did about 20 minutes of this workout before I realized it's over my head right now, but it definitely gives me something to work towards. If you can actually finish this DVD and keep up, you know you're in good shape! I didn't love all of the movements, some of them felt akward to me and a few of them didn't even seem safe, but the rest of the DVD is well worth the 5 star rating.

I'm a fitness instructor who works out almost everyday. I found this work out to be well taught and challenging. Tracie does a great job of cueing and her exercises often have a different twist to them from what you normally see. I am very pleased and am planning on buying more of her DVD's. This is not a beginner's workout by the way.

I do not want to be redundant to the already thorough reviews of this workout but do want to add my opinion. I consistently used the Firm (old and new) and Jari Love for my workouts. Both are tried and true. However, I tend to tire of the predictability of the workouts (especially Jari Love). The Tracie Long workouts (I have all four) constantly challenge your mind and body. The moves are different from the old standards; thus, I find myself paying attention to what is being said and done. I noticed that in these workouts (most notably Better Burn Better Buns and Strength in Movement), I was sweating early on, and that my core was being actively worked. I did not find the moves to be risk-filled, i.e., I do not think that injury is likely. These workouts are fun. They are challenging, and they produce results.

I won't go into details since this workout has been so beautifully detailed by previous reviewers and I must say I don't write alot of reviews,I just had too on this workout! This workout came in a 4 pack DVD set by Tracie and this was the very first Tracie Long workout I have ever done. I only wish I would have found her sooner!! In 20 plus years of in- home exercise with countless instructors,Tracie is definitely one of the best. She is a TRUE professional,her cuing is flawless!! I absolutely LOVE this workout! The addition of the medicine ball is brillant,the production is excellent,the music very upbeat and motivating.
Not your usual routine,this one is very different from anything I have ever done,I LOVE the "gliding" segments and instead of the recommended paper plate or rag I used Gliding discs and they worked perfect. I like that not alot of equipment is used in Tracie's productions. I am sad to see,however,that these being 2005 productions, she hasn't come out with anything new yet. I truly hope she does,she is one of the best! I HIGHLY recommend this workout!!
