Made of high quality 1" chrome-plated steel tubing, with 4 flat-bottom rubber feet to grip the floor, and adjustable pedal straps to keep your feet in place. Has solid construction, sturdy feet and an effective resistance range from light to noticeably stiff. Appropriate for elderly exercise as well as for a modest aerobic workout. Can be used for upper body exercises by placing it on a table and using your arms, or for lower body exercises placed on the floor and pedaled with your feet. At 5 pounds, it is easy to move around and store. Sit with legs at close to a 90 degree angle. Start your exercise program slowly and gradually work up to 20 minutes of exercise at least 3 times a week. Please note that like all pedal exercisers of this design, the resistance knob housing can become hot after using vigorously, so take care when touching after heavy use. My legs don't hurt and swell as much when I use this. I don't get to get up at work so these really help. Rating: - That's hot!?! I suppose I should have expected this as there is obiously no space for gears but I was still caught off guard when it burned me. The tension mechanism uses friction only to bring you to higher "gears". That friction then heats up not only the "gear box" but the entire length of the pedal arms as well. Thank goodness they made the pedals out of plastic cause that's the only part of the body that doesn't transfer heat. You can avoid the heat by never turning up the tension but then why buy a tensioning pedal? My advise is to spend the extra money for one that uses real mechanical gears cause this thing is useless. Rating: - Work it! Happy this came assembled! Well worth the extra $2 from other non-assembled products. Good resistance! Rating: - Pedal Exercisers are a good concept, Pick another model/brand. In short the quality is poor. As others have mentions the rotation is not smooth. Also the resistance knob does not provide enough resistance to be a real feature. The temperature of the metal parts becomes too hot, even after a short use, to be safe and can easily cause burns to the unsuspecting user. Also, possibly caused from the excessive heat, this pedal exerciser tends to fall apart. I love the concept of pedal excercisers but if you plan on buying one for yourself or as a gift I strongly recommend a different brand and/or model. The shipping was a bit drastic, coming to almost the price of the pedals. So, I sort of paid twice for one product that is basically "just" $20.00 worth of product. see more
