Amazon.com: You may think the world doesn't need another adaptation of Jane Eyre--but you're wrong. This new and wonderfully lush Masterpiece Theatre version, directed by Susanna White (who directed the equally sumptuous miniseries of Bleak House starring Gillian Anderson), contrasts Jane Eyre's vivid inner life with the harshness of her outer life; both Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia) as the young Jane and newcomer Ruth Wilson express the inner vitality of the outcast orphan girl whose spirit captures the heart of the rough, charismatic landowner Mr. Rochester (Toby Stephens, Die Another Day). Stephens, it must be said, is far too conventionally handsome for the part, but he makes up for it by capturing Rochester's abrasive and mercurial temperament. (Wilson's looks are perfect; at one moment she seems awkward and homely, at another utterly luminous.) Jane Eyre is so often remade because the story is so potent; this production brings all of the novel's juice and passion to the fore, emphasizing the characters' sensual experience while staying true to the restrictions and mores of the period. All in all, exceptional. --Bret Fetzer

Rating: - Wonderful
I loved the miniseries it was very well made, and the actors are great. Ive seen it at least 3 times hehehe.
This Mr. Rochester is the best one Ive seen.
Rating: - Wonderful!
I have seen just about every film adaptation of Jane Eyre and this is by far the best. You will love it!
Rating: - A little disappointed
I've read the book before watching the movie and was a little disappointed by the film to say the least.
The timeline in the movie tried to follow the book pretty precisly but I feel that some important parts of the story were left out. If you haven't read the book and like the genre in particular this movie is probably pretty interesting, although I was not extremely amazed by the acting talents either. If you read the book before hand you are most likely going to be as disappointed by this movie as I was.
Rating: - Finally somone got it right!
Yes there's some creative license used here and there, but honestly I think those things just enhanced the experience.
I am a long time Jane Eyre fan and have read the book every single year since 1983. I've watched every video to come out about that book.
I liked the version with Timothy Dalton, but this one with Toby Stephens just blew me away. I can't image anyone out-doing this version of Jane Eyre.
The actor playing Mr. Rochester did such a great job and the girl playing Jane Eyre was perfect!
I have owned this video for about a month now. I have watched it 5 times. It is 4 hours long. Need I say more?
Rating: - The Best Version of Jane Eyre
This is the best version of Jane Eyre, I have seen to date. The cinematography is great. The movie is beautifully shot, it is poetically dark and mysterious, and beautifully romantic as well. The romance was the focus and the heart of this presentation, as it should be. I loved seeing a more passionate Jane and Mr. Rochester, while staying true to themselves. I also loved the banter between them. The cast is great, and the music is wonderful.
Favorite scenes: The scene after the fire between Jane and Mr. Rochester, the proposal scene, the scene when Edward and Jane meet, the scene when Jane is on the moors, praying "our Father who art in Heaven", the scene when Jane returns to Edward... I could go on but I shall stop.
I truly enjoyed it; very well done.
