Description:
Fight for Your Freedom!

Revolution is at hand! Noble Michel Volban leads the People’s Army in a rebellion among the stars as aristocrats and commoners alike take up arms and rally towards war. The Holy Imperial Emperor Vetti uses force and manipulation to unite the heavens under his rule, led by a mystical prophesy that falls on the ears of those that seek to control and those that seek to liberate. Factions clash and alliances are formed and broken and freedom carries a blood stained blade.

Through the smoke, a fantastic glass battleship pierces the very heart of destiny, piloted by stoic Cleo; the last remaining vessel of royal blood and potential savior of the weary populace. Glorious victory is nigh… but which crest will fly in the wind once the battle ceases?

Amazon.com:
A sprawling saga of tyranny and revolution, Glass Fleet (2006) combines feudal European elements and a sci-fi setting. Heroic Michel Volban leads the People's Army against Vetti Sforza, who has proclaimed himself 'Holy Emperor' of the Galaxy. A chance encounter brings together Michel and the dashing freebooter Cleo, a rogue scion of the old royal family who plots to restore his family to the throne. Undaunted by this plan, Michel tries to make Cleo into an ally. Although it was obviously a big-budget production with a lush score and elaborate CG effects, Glass Fleet plays like a unsatisfying amalgam of Trinity Blood, Eureka Seven, Rose of Versailles, and Last Exile. Casting a woman as Michel gives the character an ambiguous sexuality; Vetti loves his guard Ralph, who's also voiced by an actress, adding to the gender confusion. The filmmakers try to distract the viewer with bizarre costumes, baroque settings and a plethora of special effects, but the visual overkill can't disguise the trite characters and uninspired storytelling. (Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 14 and older: violence, alcohol use, suggested homosexuality) --Charles Solomon

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Engaging Space Opera
This European-styled space opera combines the swashbuckling fun of a good samurai adventure with the melodrama of a political romance. The animation is beautiful, the music is well done, and for once the lead is not some ditzy teenager. Character development is good - the villain is really interesting and fully fleshed out, while the various supporting characters are engaging and lively. The English dub is reasonably good, though the original Japanese is much better - the voice of the Japanese Cleo is Ooh Baby delicious. This is a big story that replays well, with adult themes. Fan service, graphic violence, and sex are minimal, though there is suggested rape and torture as well as some pivotal homosexual and apparently incestuous relationships, so if you are looking for kiddie fare, go elsewhere. If you want lots of screen time devoted to insanely good looking characters in swordfights, gratuitous space battles, love triangles galore, and some tearjerking moments, buy this. I absolutely loved this series.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Very good animation, still just a decent start
I'll start by saying the animation in Glass Fleet is it's biggest strength. However, the story is decent at best and at this point the plot needs some serious work. Most of the characters aren't very interesting at all up to this point to me. I just get really annoyed when male characters act too much on the feminine side. At least the main characters keep it interesting a little.

The story is a corrupt noble empire was taken over by a noble empire even more corrupt lead by Vetti Sforza. A noble by the name of Michelle Volban leads an anti-establishment called the People's Army. They were set up during their revolt and was on the brink of surrendering. A glass fighter ship captained by a man named Cleo of the Wind intervened and pushed back the noble assault. He then takes Michelle and her 2 loyal companions onto his ship. They then head for another planet and this is when things start to get a bit interesting.

The battles are mostly space dogfights up to this point with a bit of swordplay. The space battles are well detailed and are very good to watch. This is when the animation is at it's strongest. It never gets too dark and it's easy to keep track of what's going on. The space ship designs are very good, especially the glass ship. The soundtrack seems well placed and it's used at the right times. I like the voices for most of the characters and the dialogue was funny to me at times.

There is no fan service up to this point. With on only one female wearing ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing!!!
If you enjoy anime that would be dubbed, space epics, and you don't own Glass Fleet, you are lacking. This anime has an amazing storyline and equally amazing dialogue.
