Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Unless you collect holographic cards it is THE SAME as the SPECIAL EDITION
While I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and I avidly enjoy this movie (not as good as the books, but you know, we all say that),unless you have a great need for the holographic card pasted on the front of the DVD, look elsewhere. THis is the EXACT same as the special edition, and is getting sold for much more. I expected some sort of illustrated cards or SOMETHING inside the package, but the fact is, I saw ZERO reviews on this that informed me of much of anything. SO I thought I would write one. In my opinion, it's not worth the extra for a card that is cheap, and I think it has a DVD "insert" inside (meaning instead of having a DVD on the cover section and the back, you have a middle section that both DVDs are fastened to) but it is plain black plastic. Nothing extraordinary at all. In my opinion (that and a Dollar will buy you a cup o' coffee). Save your money and get the special edition. It has both DVDs and the EXACT same features.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - DELUXE Edition?
I loved the books and enjoyed the movies, and I do believe a great deal of information was left out of all the movies so far. What I want to know is why is this one called The DELUXE Edition?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Arguably the Best One

This 4th chapter starts with Harry, Ron, and Hermione watching a spectacular circus act with some magical touches of course. We later learn that there is going to be an interschool magical olympics. (It may be dangerous, and someone could even get killed.) We learn one of the great hypocrisies in this setting. (It's ok to have interschool or international games and tournaments, as long as its our school our country that wins.)

While Harry is under 17 and too young to participate, his name ends up chosen to participate. Nice mystery to start things off. The cold, but virtuous Snape knows that something is not right. But he suspects that it may be easier to know what is going on if they let Harry participate. Very quickly, I have to admit I like the new Dumbledore. (Michael Gambon)

In this movie, we start to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione having disputes. (Ron actually curses at Harry in this one.) But like true friends, they put their disputes aside and move on. Good thing since this 4th chapter is getting dark.

We also see that Neville still bumbles, but we can see that his character is getting interesting. He dances very well (to the surprise of a few people). He gets a date for the ball before Harry or Ron. And at one point, his immense knowledge of plants and herbs proves really useful to Harry at a crucial point.

Before the final event of the tournament, Harry again has a dispute with Snape. (Snape suspects Harry of stealing his supplies.) This leads to a bitter exchange of remarks. And then the 'find the cup in the maze' contest turns out to have a VERY SURPRISING AND CATASTROPHIC end.

There is a great climax as Snape is once again at Dumbledore's side as they quell at least part of the tragic situation. There is a notable sadness that ends this 4th chapter.

If you read the book, you will undoubtedly miss how Snape and Dumbledore try to communicate with the obtuse Fudge about the return of a threat. You may also miss the uneasy reconciliation between Snape and Sirius. But overall, they did a great job of fitting the book into 2 hours and change.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - What a disappointment.
I won't write a synopsis, I'm sure there will be hundreds of people who will after this review.

My family and I all love the Harry potter stories. They are rich and enjoyable. I find myself anticipating the release of Deathly Hallows. But the movies, I'm sad to say, have recently been lacking, and that continues with this one. It seemed to begin with Prisoner of Azkaban. After watching the interviews, and discovering how Cuaron cheated by having the kids write essays on their characters instead of reading the book, I was very disappointed and the butchery of the story for the sake of time and 'Hollywood' THEN made sense. They seem to be leaving things out, important things to the story. What happened to SPEW? What happened to Hermione knitting hats? These things may not have seemed important to the over all story as portrayed in the movie, but these little touches add depth and colour to the world of Harry Potter. they could have shortened the battle with the dragon in Goblet, perhaps put in a couple of two or three minute spots about SPEW, but they chose to go for the action instead of the human touches to these stories. My daughter plans to take me to see Order of The Phoenix for my birthday. And I'm sad to say, I'm only partially looking forward to it at this point, I keep hoping that they will pull it back together.

What makes this movie worth while? Not much. The acting is still topnotch from a lot of the actors, but it seems more like they're reading from cue boards than acting anymore.

What makes this movie stink? I outlined it above. The only reason I purchased the DVD was because my daughter adores the characters.
